Gen1 - Control Unit, ECU 16 bit / 32 bit - speed restriction - flashing

hi dears
caused by last postings in this tread
here my trying to explain the differences of the "haya - years" and their effects

there exist 3 "types" of gen1 - haya´s
1. 99/00 unrestricted in speed with 16 bit ecu & 16bit rotor/flywheel - ecu is not flashable!
2. 01 speed restricted to 298 km/h ~ 185 mph with 16 bit ecu & 16bit rotor/flywheel - ecu is not flashable!
3. 02-07 like ´01 also speed restricted to 298 km/h ~ 185 mph BUT with 32 bit ecu & 32bit rotor/flywheel - THIS ecu IS ! flashable!

(see additionally this posting here at .org)

flashable means : you can change the internal ecu mapping by a computer (+ programm and special interface) however you want.

if you now want to get a 02-07 busa as fast as the 99/00 (340km/h / 220mph) you have to flash its ecu (02-07), means get / flash out the "6th gear limiter" (restriction).
(standard wise, at least in germany, in the us too? , the 02-07 ecu also have a restriction at 2nd & 3rd gear - this you also can flash out)
my brother did so a dozens of times and still do so.
resulting effect - you can install then the 99/00 speedo and it definitely will show the correct speed at ALL speeds you go - from 0 up to 220 mph.

___________________________________________________________________________

i myself did the change from 16 to 32 bit at my ´00 busas twice - both times with 100% full success - my busa ran/runs as fast as before (16 bit ecu)
what to do?
- change the ecu to model of 02-07
- change rotor/flywheel from 16 (8 long "noses/bumps") to 32 bit (23 short "noses/bumps")
- switch two cabels in the two ecu-connectors (a. connector Pin 56 to Pin 33 & b. connector Pin 60 to Pin 53)
- flash out the 02-07 ecu´s 6th gear restriction (and 2nd & 3rd too)

why i did so?
I have to go back a little.
what engine specialists (engineers) explained to me is that the higher the octane, the earlier the ignition point should be set.
here in germany today we only have octane higher than 92 - but the busa´s ignition point is set, at all models, for 89 octanes.
so now, with the 32 bit, i can flash the ig.-point at ecu mapping by computer 4° earlier in separated rpm´s - windows or over the entire rpm-band.

success should be:
these 4° earlier bring a much softer throttle response, which significantly improves driving, especially in areas with a lot of curves and helps to prevent the rear wheel from slipping away in a large inclined position - but it does not bring any more power !

my experiance - the harder you want to go round corners the softer the throttle response should be.
caused by that i will ask my brother to flash next weeks my ecu with 4° earlier at all rpm´s.
(i´m several times per year on our, 40 mi away, little race track to 1st to have a lot of fun
and 2nd to get out the natural 20° inclined position restriction. remember - no human beeing wants normally, caused by nature, to get leaned over than 20° sidewise , because then it fears to fall sidewise )

additional info :
at FactoryPro.com (scroll a lot down to "REMOVE THE IGNITION KEY") there is the woodruff wedge (half-moon key) with a fixed setting of 4 ° earlier ignition - with that wedge/key you don´t need to flash an ecu but you will get the same effect of softer throttle response like flashing 4°. (if you turn the key 180° to the right you get 4° later for turbos or nitrous )

a good friend of mine took this 4° wedge (earlier) to his 1441 ccm haya for now arround 5 years without any problems - using 95 (or more) german octane fuel.

What time is it out there where you are? I’m only starting my first cup of coffee.....too much to read but good post

My moms family comes from Broderhausen, Germany. Gramma use to only talk to us in German if we were in trouble. Lol

remember the time shift ;-)
here in germany it is 7 hours before you in houston - it is 01:24 pm here - i already had 3 big cups - i´m thinking about lunch - loool

and sandow or yellow are 12 h later - what are they doing this moment? last sip of what ever / last cigarette before going to sleep?

dear - try a bit your german like i do with english (and i have no english mom or so.)

perhaps you can read then some times my busa-part of my homepage - www.fj1200-3cv.de :D

It's 1038 AM where I am right now. It's 1638 in Berlin right now...which makes Berlin 6 hr ahead.

Lol. There are literally hundreds of threads on here about flashing ECUs...

Unfortunately there are still many people who acquire a 99 to 02 and post a thread like; "I have a 99 and want more power" and never bother to research the differences in models years before their purchase and never search the forum before they post.

Too bad this wasn't a sticky in the maintenance section.

cheers

Yeah, ahead, later or after not ‘before’ but maybe that’s what he meant. I’ve never tried using a language app. My friend in Wales is eight hours later than my time.

You said Wales is later than California. I'm not sure that anyone (besides you) understands something happening before as "later" but okay....

Ah, I see what you mean. So, for all those (besides me) when we call each other he’s having dinner and I’m getting up. Same day only it’s ‘later’ there. We talk about F1 races for example that here, are about to happen but there, have already happened. I am sure however that saying what you said in your last sentence can quite easily be understood as an insult, similar to saying, “try to keep up”.

The races don't happen there, and then later here...they only run them once... I know what you mean though.
If I had intended to insult you, I would have left no room for other interpretation.

Ha! There it is again and this time there’s no room for any other interpretation.

Hello, i have a problem with my 1999 Busa, do you know if 1999-2000 Busas have immobilizer in europe market, the mechanic says my ECU has gone bad and he had someone with a 2000 ECU from the Netherlands but he says that it came from a bike with immobilizer?

I have seen all over the internet people changing ECU from 16 bit to 32 Bit and no one mentions immobilizer problems...

Even if i was willing to change to a 32 bit ECU, i swap the ECU and the rotor, the pins...will i have to worry about immobilizer problems?

Thank you

16 bit ECU's were hacked also and were are just as flashable
BUT you have to drill a hole in the ECU to gain access and solder on some leads

No one took that ball and ran with it
PIA but can/has been done
