Gen I (second) valve adjustment horror

Took the bike to have a valve adjustment today. The first one was done at 12K, and naturally there were no valves needing adjustment.

Fast forward to today, with 86K on the Busa. What? No adjustment in the last 74K? What in the hell was I thinking? The bike runs great, so why bother?

Total valves needing adjustment? ZERO!! NADA!! ZIP!! All of them were within factory specs. The best thing I got out of this was a new valve cover gasket, because the original was leaking. Got a fresh set of sparks while the top was open, and we're back on the road.

Anyone think for a minute that the Busa motor is anything but bulletproof, get some therapy. :cheerleader:

as long as you take care of it, use good oil, they should stay in spec for a long time.Toyotas can go 300k on the same valvetrain with no adjustments made with the puck type valvetrain.

Yep the gen1 especially is an overbuilt, understressed power plant that is strong as they come....and still goes stupid fast
