if memory serves me right the ignition switch between the two look simalar, however when i had my gen II apart to change the top clamp i notice that the gen I wiring was different between the two. So to avoid confusion i kept the original switch for my gen II. didnt mess a lot with it to try to figured out the harness. good luck
