Galaxy S4 Mount

My Busa

Registered
Looking for ideas on how to mount my Galaxy S4 to the bike. Not sure if using an otterbox holster with velcro or a ram mount is better or what. I really want it low profile, centered on the fork but not fall off at high speed. Reviews show that some people loose their phone using the ram x grip while others say velcro is a no-no...

What say you? Ideas? thoughts? Do's & don'ts?

While it's an S3 - this set up has worked for nearly 20 k miles. The S4 is just a little bigger - I'm pretty sure this would work for ya. I'm so confident in the holder I don't even use the tether anymore.

I am looking for s4 mounts, not iphone mounts.... S4 is such a large device that I want someone who actually owns one to chime in... :)

If you look in the other thread, people (such as my self) posted phone mounts for phones other than for the iphone. I personally have the note 2 which is larger than the S4, and the mount i posted works great..even at higher speeds..

One of these will work great. I don't have an S4, I have a Razr and it works great. Get it from RAM Mounts.

Can you post some pics at different angles? I would like to see how it mounts to the bike. And what brand, and where did you get it?

Thanks

I can take a couple of pics for ya... However, it's a ram mount set up. Stem mount base and the standard ram cradle. A lot of folks complain about the stem mounts - but I think they over tighten them and all at once - you need to let rhe hard rubber plug compress over a couple hours. Tighten - wait a half hour - tighten a half turn wait and tighten again. My mount is only tighten enough to keep it from vibrating out of the stem. The entire mount will rotate back and forth a bit, but if you bonk it getting on or off the bike it simply rotates to the side - it doesn't break. The set-up is plenty sturdy to press the icons and operate the phone.

Also, it is infinately adjustable, so you can set it to easily reach over to place and turn the key and locate it just below the line of sight of the gauges. A simply glance down and you've got your info. It's symetrical too... This fits my eye! I don't care for set ups on one side or the other, but thats just me...

Find the actual mount below - you will need the cradle and for the busa a "short" double socket arm.

Cool. I will look into that man. Thanks.

Just a thought, the s4 will take bluetooth commands. Why not keep your phone zipped up in your jacket and get Sena SMH 10 something similar for your helmet

Ram mounts are awesome . I have been using a stem stand and Velcro for years with no problems

I have had issues with the lack of data connection to the phone if I want to stream music through Pandora when I had my phone in my pocket or the like. Also, you don't get to use the phone as a GPS or be able to see caller ID if it rings while in your pocket.

I do use a Sena SMH 10 bluetoothed to my S3. My S3 provides me with tunes (MP3s and streamed), voice directions, voice notifications. I have it mounted so I can see google maps / navigation - pick tunes, read text / emails - while at red lights of course. To date I've never used it for hemlet to helmet comunications (intercom) - you really don't want to know what's going on in my helmet:laugh:

The Concours comes with an accesory plug on the dash and my phone is plugged in via a micro USB cable. Works great! Very cool set up... Technology is great when it works as advertised!

Oh yeah - forgot... Silly me - I also use it as a phone too... to take calls on the fly and just say "CALL HOME" and the wife on the line.

Another thing - the phone takes pretty decent photos... So I can quick snap a picture at an overlook or such then mount it back in it's cradle - never have to leave the bike... then send it to the wife to confirm I'm actually in Indianapolis or wherever...

One other thing - until recently my Wife could track my location through google maps. The good thing is she can track my whereabouts, the bad thing is she can track my whereabouts. Really - I ride lone wolf frequently and if i were to take a wrong turn over the side of a mountain in the West Virginia wilds someone could come find my cold dead carcass. Nice thought hunnn!

Geez, I guess I don't get out much  A call ocasionally and some music a little solitude. whooo hoooo let's ride

I have a Galaxy S4 and I use the RAM x-grip mount with the stem mount base. Works fine for me. Just be careful when you put it in the x-grip and it should hold just fine. Triple digits and so far, haven't lost it yet. I use it with my Escort Live radar detector so I need to see the display.

I'll try to get some pictures posted later.
