Front fender extension/mudflap

Went for a ride in the rain yesterday, had to go down some backroads and the rad got plugged with mud, good thing i was close to home. If i was out in the middle of nowhere it would have been a big problem. Is there anybody out there who has had the same problem? Is there a fender extension or mudflap that would work without causing cooling problems?

Holeshot.com sells a front fender extender for the Bandit 1200-it may work/or could be modified to work. Just a suggestion.
