From Mild to Loud

Hey Guys, I just wanted to share one of my winter projects.
I happen to come across a really good deal on a Brocks Megaphone CT exhaust. It was in really really good condition, but I did a few things to make it look new and installed it on my baby. I know this is Old stuff to most of yall, but this is my first full exhaust so im gonna start posting pics of what I did so far.

So below is the condition the exhaust come to me in,, pretty good.. I didn't like the blue logo plate but I absolutely love the blue hue from heat that titanium takes on..... These are also the pics I had to send to Brock before they would let me purchase a black and silver logo plate. I also spent an extra $75 dollars on another carbon fiber end cap.. The one that came on it had a small scratch, and stuff like that bothers me..

So the parts arrived from Brock. Love the customer service of that organization,, they charge a lot for their parts, but they stand behind them.

This is after I took brasso and went over the muffler,, still have a ways to go to get it to shine like I want,, but this was a good start.

So , I took the muffler to work and went to our old , but useable model shop and began work....... yes it was on company time.. Lol,, but,,,,, you know.......

The drill presses are a little long in the tooth, but they got the job done.. Oh and talk about nervous as heck drilling out some rivets..... whew:banghead:

Here is the muffler without the name plate.... And also a look the muffler with out the carbon fiber end cap.. It looks like the internal baffle screen as well as the down spout are stainless steel.. Kinda of a bummer, I expected everything in this piece to be titanium.. But this is still a bad azz exhaust..

So now that I've removed the logo plate and end cap.. (kicking myself for not ordering more packing)... Its time for re-assembly. This was just as nerve racking as drilling out the rivets due to the fact that Brock supplied the exact amount of black rivets needed for the end cap and if you mess one up,, there are no more.. :banghead::please:

And i did mess one up,, I had plenty ss ones at work so on the bike side of the muffler i installed a ss one to replace the black one that got screwed up..

Great job cleaning it up. Can't wait to read your post after you get to hear it for the first time.

Nice work, I would be to nervous to try and take off rivets and replace...not my wheelhouse...nice job indeed.

Looking forward to pics of the full bike and some close-ups too.

Nice job cleaning it up more.
Did you have any problems installing the headers?

Well now it's time to install the exhaust. So off with the fairings, front plastics, and,,,,,,,, the radiator assembly with oil cooler... ???

The funny thing about all of this is that I kinda hated seeing the old stock header go... It had been with me for over five years. 30000 miles, through rain, snow, the beach, and mountains. . We tamed the dragon together. I sat on the floor of my (un-organized) garage and just looked at it for a few...

Oh well,,,,,,,,, OFF SHE GOES!!!. As when I replaced the stock cans,,,,i couldn't believe how heavy the thing is.. I didn't weigh it, but man this thing is a beast. On brocks Website it says the CT system is around 8.5lbs.....This one actually weighed in just under 8... 7.78lbs.

Since I had everything off, I took the opportunity to look at my exhaust valves. Don't know what that white build up is,,,, but it is on all of them so I'm gonna call it 'normal'...
