frame welding

The welding looks like chit up there anyway, common manufacturing bs, where its not cosmetic its generally rushed!!!

With a good confident welder to repair it you have no need to xray it, if he knows what he's doing it'll be fine. I tell people all the time i would have no problem riding a bike i welded the frame on or rolling a car i welded a cage into!

I would weld it in a skinny minute. You have to take your time welding it (a little at a time) to keep from melting the aluminum. Just find a competent welder and you will be fine.

Pack some JB weld in the crack and call it a day.

All joking aside as long as the geometry of the triple is not compromised that is not hard to fix. The weld should be ground out a minimum of 1" past the crack and re-welded.

Good luck....

My 04 was split on both side's of the steering stem when I got it. I ground the weld out, drilled a small hole at each end of it and had a certified welder fix it up. If I did a neater job grinding you would never be able to tell. That was 40k mile's ago and no problem's yet.
