Supposedly, on the 2008 Diesel Super Duty models, an internal ‘carbon scrubber’ is set to ignite and burn off the carbon build up in the system at a pre-determined level. What they didn’t notice was that during fuel overload (when the black soot pours out of the pipe), the igniter could be activated causing the following video clip.
Per a Ford Dealer, this has caused a FULL RECALL on all Super Duty Diesels... Way to go Ford!
