Exhaust front pipes swap

Hi

I have a 2001 hayabusa and went to add some stainless steel link pipes (as mine are currently black and tired looking) but only 1 of the old link pipes come off - the other seems to be welded or a part of the front pipes.

Please can someone confirm this?

Also if it is attached ive noticed that images of the 2003 model front pipes show both link pipes removed so will 2003 front pipes fit my 2001?

A common exhaust upgrade is to replace the entire OEM exhaust with a FULL system. It sounds like the previous owner "blocked" off the left MIDPIPE to run only one muffler to the right. The headers/midpipes and muffler cans are the same for 99-07.

99 to 01 have a different header, and mid pipes!

02 and up have both left and right removable mid pipes!
