Not close lol but well on the ethical side on the Trump scale. There’s a good movie out about ethics and morals, Conclave. The story centers around the Catholic religion but the moral is deeper.
Musk and I possibly have a common reason for being patriotic, respect the office, no matter who runs it and sincerely appreciate what this country has given us. We have zero entitlement.

He came later than me, without war scars though. I was shot through the shoulder and my right leg, by a Russian, picking up three casualties with my vehicle in Angola. One survived, two did not make it. I was lucky to make it. No shrinks to treat PTSD, no military pensions, only the courage to eventually start a new life here and earn my keep.

Sorry for getting a little serious, but many of my fellow Americans have no idea how good they have it here. It is not appreciated.

Let’s start with his contribution to our GDP.
You think you better than him?
GDP improved less than 1% during his last term, and then over 10% during the Biden administration. Funny thing is, nobody is claiming, nor should they, that Biden is better at business than Trump. It’s the people that make the numbers, not the old guy in the Oval Office.

We have zero entitlement.
Like so many terms, society has coerced the word entitlement into a negative connotation. Having served does entitle you to speak on matters and commands respect from those of us that didn’t. The thing is, it doesn’t change actions and stances that hurt innocent people. Nothing changes that.

A couple huge things separate you and Musk......he came from wealthy beginnings and he used his Canadian citizenship to escape obligatory military service......he didn't have the greatest childhood but in reality....who from that time period has......

You had the fortitude to not only serve but survive and grow as a human being as a result with most likely zero thanks. I'd say that is an impressive resume right there.

I fully concur that people in western countries really don't know how good they have it...every time I see the trash, recycling, compost bin and paper recycle bin being picked up out of my driveway on specified schedules, or watch the snowplow go by, I look at that with gratitude.

When I can go to a well stocked grocery store and not need a weapon to get to my vehicle after, I look at that will gratitude.....just the fact I have never needed or felt the need to be armed in my own country is gratitude...

All this political nonsense is a distraction......politicians and party leaders come and go...how many have we endured over the years yet we are still here with none the wear to show.....

Life is pretty darned good....

Not relevant.
Read those posts again.
Wasn’t talking about either Administration.

Musk puts food on the table for more than 150,000 employees and some of us think we are better than him. Pretty sad.

He should have stayed out of politics......he has globally hurt his brand.

I would hope he had some sort of assistant or advisor who told him to not go anywhere near politics....and if so, it's sad that he would ignore such advice.

I think he has done good things, I don't care for his leadership style but that doesn't necessarily define the man.

Tell that to the dingleberries I routinely see open carrying at the neighborhood Walmart. It’s in the affluent part of a low crime city so protection is not the issue, making a political statement by openly carrying is.
A skilled person of ill intentions could easily take that gun and hurt people.

Agree, he should never have purchased Twitter and stayed out of politics.

President Musk.
You’re a math guy, did you subtract the Federal workers fired from that 150k figure?
Did you subtract my nephew with 15 years firefighting experience from it? At least his job might be reinstated. Fingers crossed, he has 2 kids.

I have to admit, I very seldom see that where I live.

You will hate me for this.
I have never been asked to leave a job. I have left though, when I personally felt that the job got to the stage where I can’t contribute enough value. I was always asked to stay, but would move on to where I could make a real difference by adding value.

I believe in the “need” principle and don't have much sympathy for people who end up in jobs where they are not needed.

That is why our interpretation of “entitlement” is so different.

You post a lot of things that I don’t agree with, but that is the worst I’ve read. For you to imply you know more about forest firefighting or more specifically the need for this skill and knowledge than my cousin is bizarre. In this are you have zero idea and make an arse of yourself to imply such. He and I have discussed it at length. All his superiors, mixed conservative and liberal, say the same. It is one of the more flagrant examples of negligence and abuse of power.
Period.

Where did I say anything whatsoever about your cousin????

I have no information to even remotely judge that.

Your reading comprehension and jumping to conclusions makes me worry about you.

And, employees who object to an email asking for five things they did in a week, worries me even more.

Right there you imply your estimation of the importance of my nephew's job, and more importantly the skill and experience he's acquired. It's even worse to have some disconnected tech billionaire ignore things as well. My nephew is decidedly conservative, voted for Trump.
Go ahead and deny it, but I see right through the way you carefully word things, so you can back out later. You even prefaced it with "you will hate me for this". Man up and own stuff Jelly.

You said “Federal workers”. Plural.

When someone displays reading comprehension difficulties with their own text, it gets a bit scary.

Your reading comprehension regarding Musk’s contribution to GDP failed as well.

You sure you are OK today?

BTW, doing research after your response, the USDA says, copy and paste:

“"To be clear, none of these individuals were operational firefighters," USDA Secretary Brooke Rollins said in a statement.”

Is that a lie?

The Federal workers, plural, that Musk was behind the firing of. You continue to question my reading comprehension without having any clue about me. I was referring to Musk in all parts of this discussion except GDP during Trump’s first term, which you wisely avoid discussing. Musk’s current “official advisor “ moniker is true BS.

Yes. He received termination orders in February. A judge temporarily stopped the order but Trump apparently is threatening to take it to the Supreme Court.

One more thing… don’t ask someone if they’re ok when you don’t give a darn about whether they’re ok, in other words, sarcastically. It’s one of the lower forms of interaction.

I know that today’s tornado’s missed you. I hope so anyway. The weather has cleared up, go ride your scooter, maybe smelling two smoke will brighten up your day a little.

Touched down in Seymour, about 30 minutes from here and Bakersfield, south of there. For whatever reason, Springfield is rarely hit. We had a 30 minute tornado warning here.
Your advice is sound except it’s a bit chilly for my old bones.

I'm not trying to argue that Trump has become the enemy....his actions have shown that he is no longer an ally or friend to many of America's former allied nations...........for whatever reason that may be.

However it's not about Trump or Trudeau (who is no longer our Prime Minister by the way), it's about division......left and right fighting over what exactly? What is defined as "liberal" might even be different from country to country......it might not be the exact same definition as democrat across the board......

A leader of a country......any country should be the leader for ALL people of that country, not just the ones they pick and choose to be....that is the sign of a true leader....

I was a leader, I led people that didn't perfectly align to all my thoughts and ideology but it was my duty to put mission first and myself second.......often times below that. My leading troops was never about me, it was about them, it was my duty and responsibility to take care of them and ensure they were set up for success even if it meant I personally suffered as a result.

That is what I expect from a world leader, but have seldom seen this as it seems that they are all self-centered and worry more about themselves than what's good for the masses or their nation.
Well when you live in a country that half the nation won't address him as the president, it's much more difficult to lead that half. In Trumps first term the left leaning media went out of their way to call him Mr Trump and not President Trump. At the same time the population that didn't want him had the battle cry of 'Not my President".

And yes while Trudeau has stepped down, he has a liberal replacement. It makes no difference if they lead in the same way.

And yes that division is the civil war at hand. One side hated the other. You are not allowed to be in the middle now.
