Escort REDLINE Radar Detector... What do you know?

I was considering purchasing the escort 9500ix, however I do not reside in the US so the database of all stationary radars in the US is completely of no use to me. However I liked the feature to memorize new locations as it works on GPS. Just before I went with that I read a bit about the redline version, which apparently is the best in the market for detecting at the longest range. And when you're riding a busa, i suppose every inch in advance of notification can help!

Has anyone tried this radar? I live in a desert country so not much city riding really. but still I want something that would be ideal in all conditions/locations.

Your help would be much appreciated.

Some guys just recommended the beltronics STI-R PLUS which is for Europe and Australia, claiming that this is like the redline but with GPS. any know anything about it?

I have the 9500ix and used the suction cup mount on my windscreen. This worked great however the weight of the radar detector and vibration has caused the unit to come apart. It needs to be mounted so that it is held from underneath the unit.

thanks waterbug. Im already on 2 radar forums and still cant make up my mind... damn confusing stuff... I wish a redline IX existed!

I am in the US, I have the Escort 850 and it kicks ass, I have a heads up light that I have not installed in this picture,,,,

I just went for a car ride today with a buddy that has the new redline. It is incredible. We picked up oncoming, from the rear, instant on and hidden off to the side, around the bend and over the next hill stationary speed traps. we ran at 1.5 times the posted rate and breezed through grinning. The Redline starts to alert from so far away that it is tempting to ignore it. Do NOT ignore it. This radar detector is sooooo sensitive. Yes it picks up phantom crap in Industrial areas but that is minor compared to it saving our butts on half a dozen occassions.
