Enough Guess work...  Where does Rev and The Wife

It all depends on what you're looking for.  If you stay on the South side of ATL you can get more land for your money but it is starting to grow rapidly.  If you goto the North side you gjet a little less but there is a lot of choices.  If you go up GA 400 you can find houses any where from the low $100s to $1m+.  The area around Lake Lanier is beautiful and the GA mountains are only about 30 mins away and it will take you about 45 mins to get to ATL airport.  The only draw back with the North side is the traffic.  If you have to run rush hour you can almost double your driving time on somedays.  I live up on the southeast side of Lake Lanier in Hall county and drive to the airport every afternoon.  It's 53 miles door to door and it takes me any where from 45 mins to a hour and that is at 1:30 pm.  I haven'
t been up I75 but I do know a number of people that live up that way and they really like it.  I would say any where in the yellow area you would like.
Thanks Bro, This is helpfull, gives me a good General area to focus on. I appreciate it.

We'll see what happens. I honestly will be pretty happy wherever I end if there aer mountains handy, and maybe a little Chill in the Air come Winter...

Hows about Honolulu? uh no never mind you could never get above 55mph and short distances at that... Atlanta no good your still in Hurricane alley. OK Cali it is! We got some sicko roads out here! You gotta be near a large city or ?
rock.gif

Sing along now ... Cal-if-fornia here I come! ...
thumbs-up.gif

Also there are a few sites out there about relocation, some even tell ya what the cost of living is vs. other places ... I'll see if I can find it.

Lo...you've got it made in CA!!!  I keep thinking that's where everyone should live...year-round riding, scenic...close to a lot of great places...hell, I drive further to go to the movies than most of you probably drive to vacation!
laugh.gif

Hubby loves the water, I love the mountains...CA!  What's a girl to do?
smile.gif

Rev...I hope and the missus get something hammered out soon enough...it's got to be tough to not know where you'll be in 6 months...moving sucks!  (technical term I use...)
biggrin.gif
You want to see something Funny though? Go to Realtor.com and Enter In Oakland or san francisco. Then feed in your house to your search... Tell me all about the living there now...
smile.gif

Yeah that's what I said. Cost of living is just a little bit higher. You are right though, and Lo said it me yesterday I think, basically it is cool enough out there that it's worth it for alot of folks. Obviously, there is no shortage of people out there...

smile.gif

Oh and p.s it would really be a good idea to visit an area and rent for a while... like 6 mos. before you buy a place. Get a feel for it first you wouldnt wanna be stuck in a Hellacious situation. my 2 cents

I appreciate it Hawaii, I am all over the Cost of living Calculators, and such. I'm using them and property values...

Unfortunately YEAH, There is a limited number of places where the Mrs. Can work, and all of them are in Major US Cities... Accept maybe Thousand Oaks... I dunno where that is really...

Denver is still top of the list... But there isn't much in Denver for her right now... So we wait....

Thanks Bro...

Oh...no doubt! I've got a friend that lives in "the hills" and I dare say his home is near the $500,000 mark? If it's not, then he stole it! Gated community, beautifully landscaped...far cry from the wooded stix I live in!

I don't think I could afford to live there...not made of money, but if I were, CA's the place I'd want to be...

smile.gif

Oh, and just to put that value on the home up there in perspective...where I live, $500,000 will buy you the place just behind my house...two story brick, on a huge pond, 3 bay garage, guest house on another part of the property with tennis courts...15 acres...sometimes it pays to live in the country...

See,  I quit College and Joined the Air Force for her.  I Then got out of the Air Force and Moved to the one place I didn't want to go (Seriously) "Anywhere but Florida" For her...  Now I am once again awaiting deployment orders from Command so I should be prepared to Un-Ass my current AOR, Grab my gear and Go....Somewhere...

Yeah it's all good, you do what you gotta do... OH But "I have a say in where we go... "  yeah right... I think she means it, but I burned my dreamsheat a long time ago...
The one good thing about being in your New Command is that all of your moves are Joint Spouse

Did I forget to mention picturesque views...  Ahhh, Golden Gate Bridge view from Vista Point...  lovely...
LOBUSA you are Killin Me!!!     It's that crowd in Front of the Bridge that looks like a good time...

And those ROADS....   *SIGH*
A mear 38 hours of driving time and you could be in that picture with us. That was taken at the 2003 Laguna trip. I've made that trip twice now and I would love to live out there and ride those roads everyday. Life would be rough.

Hey Rev, why not move to Louisiana?
rock.gif
laugh.gif
Umm... Cause Lo is In Cali, and there's a beach, and all kinds of sweet weather that doesn't involve heat and humidity...
smile.gif

OK Seriously though, it's all the Wife's fault. Her career is pretty specialized so there are only a few places in the country we really can move. If life were simpler? I'd be in Northern Colorado, enjoying about 100 Acres, with a Steel shop outback where I make sculpture, and creat pretty Sh!d for a living...

OH and The South is hot as fug and full of scary ass redneck/Hillbilly types... Ya'll... Ya know?

Nope I want to get back up north real bad. So if Atlanta is as far North as I get this move cool, I'll take it. At least there I can afford a whoop ass house and there are "Mountains"... and twisty roads... I really need to get some altitude under me... to be happy...

Got a house for sale in Acworth which is about 30 miles northwest of Atlanta near Lake Allatoona. It's a nice neighborhood with a good variety of cultures. One of the reasons we bought it was because it is wooded on 2 sides, creek in the back and only 1 neighbor. If interested, let me know and I'll get some pics to ya.

wow.gif
IS that really the Garage?
rock.gif
Very nice...

I appreciate the offer Abuser, and I am not saying No, but I dunno what sort of time frame your looking at. We are looking to be moving around Spring 05 so I dunno if that would be soon enough........................ Thanks though I appreciate it.

Yeah, that's the garage - I really miss it too, but we had to move back to Va to be near family.  If ya change your mind, let me know - it may still be on the market in the spring

.

Hey Rev. If you moved to Seattle you would be only about 1-2 hours away from riding in those as you once said, those lush mountain valley's, and meeting board members RSD, MSF, Iced, myself and others. Yahoo!!!

Picture_116.jpg

He he he... If Only my move was simply based on where the best riding is... I'd be in the house.
laugh.gif

Thanks folks.

Really the Pacific NW is where I want to go. Right along the coast maybe. I spent some time in the San Juan Islands and I freakin loved it up there. Just perfect, mountain roads and beach all at once... But N. California sounds good if we can simply figure out a way to afford a house, without killing ouselves...

Abuser, Atlanta isn't off the map yet, so don't write me off... We'll see. Besides, a garage like that could be a selling point...
smile.gif

My parents used to live in the Merrietta area, specificly Powder Springs. Very nice area, out of the rush of the city, but close enough to get pretty much anywhere in the northern half of the 285 loop in a reasonable amount of time.

Good Luck,

Jay
