Hey everyone,
Anyone on this board heading to Eagles Canyon (http://www.texastrackdays.com/) in Dallas this weekend? I will be heading up there with my brother (rides a 07 R6) for the first time taking/riding with the novice class.

Any suggestions for a track newbie? have full leathers, I have changed out my anti-freeze to Engine ice, and I will prep the bike at the track. Anything else?

How's the novice class with TX track days? I've been riding for 10yrs (all sport bikes) but never on a track.

You might want to ask MPH200 about that track I am pretty sure he has been on that track and he can give you a little insight on the track.

Good luck man keep the rubber side down and most important enjoy yourself

good luck at the track. I hope to get there in the future, want to try and hone the riding skills. need more riding time first though, been too wet to ride much, 4 days=360 miles, not enough!!!!!!!!

It is a new track, just finished a few months ago. It is definately set up for cars, squared off corners. I haven't seen it since they finished it.

Texas Track Days is a new organization & they are very proud. $180.00 for Eagles Canyon
They even charge $170.00 for the 1.7 mile track at MSR Cresson. I heard they have cancelled some dates due to low participation.

Ridesmart is much cheaper - MSR Cresson 1.7 $100.00. They feed you too & have great instruction. A friend of Rubber2burn & mine is an instructor & he handles the cornerworking. You can cornerwork a day & ride for free the next time.

You need to have your bike prepped before you arrive at the track. Lights taped, mirrors removed etc. There will be too much going on when you get there unless you get there very early.

Be very careful w/ the Busa it can cost alot of $$$ if you make the wrong move.

HAVE FUN

Like mentioned above take chairs / EZ-UP for shade / Plenty of water.

Leathers
Helmet
Boots
Gloves
Back Protector

Glasses / Contacts
Emergency Contact Information
Health insurance card

Cell Phone / Snacks & Gas (full tank on bike) / Gas Can - full
I take a compressor / generator / extra set of wheels/tires / 2 tool boxes / folding table / stands / tire warmers.

Leave your key in the bike if transporting in an enclosed trailer - don't forget it.

I have never forgotten it, I just ride the bike into the trailer, in wheel chock, turn it off, put on rear stand & strap her down.

How's the novice class? I heard for the newbies like me its more geared for instruction than anything else. can you pass others? etc... how does that work?

looks like I got everything ready to go... canopy, drinks, gear, gas, key...

thanks MPH200. great info!

I am not sure how they are about passing. Most org you can pass on straights after lunch. I have heard they have a low turn out so there may only be 6+ people in your group. There will probably be more due to Eagles Canyon being a new track.

If you have any more questions don't be afraid to ask.

Do I need to pull the headlight fuse out?
When you tape your lights I would recommend it that way you do not bake the take on your headlight and it will make for much easier clean up later. Also here is what I know about passing as this is how Ridesmart puts it out no passing in the corners for novice class and after lunch time they will let you pass on the straight aways. Also like MPH200 mention becareful because if you go down on the Busa it is allot of $$$ to fix

You will need to tape over the headlight, & yes pull the fuse or trying to remove the tape glue will be impossible. Use blue painters tape - easiest to remove.

Man ya'll got me all freaked out about dropping the bike now.  haha.
That is why I have a track specific race bike. I went down in some oil on the track last year on my RC51. It cost me a $15 clip-on bar & some brake fluid. It would have been $2000 if it had been my baby.

I sold my RC51 & just bought a 05 Honda 600RR fully prepped racebike so my Wife can ride it too. She rides a 600RR on the street too.

Have fun & take it easy.

What tires are you running?

I'm using the 2CTs on my 750 now. I love 'em. I have the regular powers on the Busa. I'm too scared to take the Busa to the track
