Dump pipe exhaust

My system currently has an internal wastegate. I will be modifying it to an external wastegate. My question is where does the external wastegate pipe go when you run an exhaust system on a turbo bike. Do you just dump that pipe to atmosphere or route it back in to the exhaust pipe? I'm just running the dump pipe with the internal gate right now and I'm interested in going to a regular exhaust system with an external wastegate. If you want to chime in on modifying the internal gate please do.

you can dump it to atmosphere or back into the pipe
either is possible based on yours or your fab shops skill
i have seen it done both ways

yeah, you can do what you like with the dump.

some wastegates just dump to mid air with no pipe attached. my wastegate is like that. i suppose there is some danger to a setup like that as a rock can find its way into it and jam it open or shut.

either way will work. I personally like the look of one large dump pipe
