Down for the year, maybe longer

Sam just tried calling XXX. No answer - surprise surprise.

Taking the parts back to XXX is Not an option. (I'm posting this per Sam.)

His # is 419-296-5885 for anyone that wants to call him

YOU DON'T HAVE A CLUE WHAT HARD TO STOMACH IS  -  THE MESS YOU'VE MADE OF SAM'S BIKE IS WHAT I CALL HARD TO STOMACH!!!!  But somehow thru your post you act as if you're the victim!  WTF!!!!!!!
That is exactly what I got out of it. She was more worried about excuses and trying to fling mud about stupid calipers and disconnected phones. There isnt much to think about.....make it right or dont. She offered no appolagy that I remember or a statement of planning to fix it. just a call me.

They better make it right

I would ride it the way it is with a BIG decal that states xxx chrome did this shiddy job.. That would be some good advertising..

But on the other hand I do feel for you.. I would have a tough time riding her all screwed up as well..

Personally I would put the bike up for sale on Ebay and set the res for $20k. Then put pick after pick of the paint work and where the paint work came from.. I can tell you that 1000's of people look at Busa's on ebay daily. OR

Enter it in every bike show in my area. OR

Send pictures to all the bike mags. OR

Enter it in the 2 wheel tuner bike of the month and have everyone vote for it so it will win.

But then again I am a vindictive SOB...

Just is not a service business anywhere in the world that has not had an "epic" fail of one kind or another.. the real measure is "how they address it" Shawn put it exactly and hopefully they see it for what it is..

Dog piling on them is not going to help Sam at all... a bit of peace and quiet for a bit to let Sam and CO work on a good solution and let everyone save face as it should be... (Even the courts require that the service facility be given a chance to fix the issue)

I do like that look... I would love to do mine in a burgundy red

Give them a chance to make it right. If they are willing to take the bike and correct the problem let them make good. Sounds like there was a communication problem in there too. Like Bigdiesel said play phone tag till you can actually talk to Kevin. And I mean sam and Kevin talk to each other and work this out like sensible men.

Wow. That took an 45 minutes to read!

Sam, it sounds like they may be willing to make it right. Can to take some pics of the bike at a wider angle so we can see everything and compare with their pics?

If you decide to have them fix the bike, I certainly would have them pay shipping back and forth of the parts. I don't see a need to send the whole bike.

If the wife's comments were even remotely honest, they will get things straightened out. Just try to be calm when you talk to them. This has certainly turned into to a big headache for all parties involved.

The only question I have about the process, is how road worthy this stuff is. It sure is pretty, but how does it react in the real world? Could it have been the extreme cold temps the bike was subjected to on the ride home? Was it too soon to take it out in the elements? I dunno...but XXX should.

I say get in contact with them and make arrangements to have the parts shipped at their expense.

Just a thought.

Just for the record - as of right now XXX has not answered 2 phone calls and 1 email, so for all those that said we should give them a chance that is what we're doing, but at what point is enough enough. While the suggestion is appreciated, obviously even after all this nothing has changed.

6 months of this is more tiring than you can imagine.

So feel free to judge us all you like concerning the decision we make - I won't ever understand what exactly it is that we did to be treated this way. We'll manage, the bike will get fixed and hopefully no one will have to ever go thru what we did.

Priceless advice: keep a journal of all phone and email attempts and retrns, all conversations, phone records, and plenty of pics and judged by a 3rd party cause some of the pics are hard to tell whats what. You will need all of this if you go to court.

well based on how things usually went at the shop, a week should provide enough time for them to formulate a plan of attack..

Really if they are going to go the extra yard to make this right, it will take them a few days to play out their own options (extra plastics etc) A bit of breathing room before you drop the hammer would be a good idea.. I did between 2000 and 2500 cars a year and can empathize with both sides of the issue, the shop screws up (and I certainly had my bad ones) and the customer that is focused on a single point of failure..

You can only hope they are sincere about getting this right and so a bit of space might help them at first.. if they drag their feet? well I think you know what to do

Behind you all the way!! (I really want this to work as I have my eyes set on this burgundy/black cherry thing...)

I personally dont think that you will get any money toward a new set of plastics nevermind a paintjob outside of XXX. The least they will do IMO (if they do) is to re-do the whole job. Again, I have no idea what it takes to strip the mess all of your plastics, but I have already talked to Sam tonight and told him worst case senerio, if he can get the plastics stripped, I would dedicate my time and paint knowledge to repaint all his panels in my garage for free!

It would have to be a non candy paint as I would not be able to do all panels at once due to the size of my garage. But being a non candy paint, it would match no problem. So worst case... XXX doesn't shed a dime toward the cause, (And dont think you are off the hook with me XXX!) I will absorb the painstaken chore of restoring his panels. All I would ask is that the .org maybe pitch in $$ as many have suggested they would to fund the materials/paint/clearcoat. I may even be able to get my good friend Alex (scipione420)Member here to help me to get it done at his shop in Leominster mass. That remains to be seen.
I did talk to George and we had a lenghtly conversation about a lot of things and I suggested to him that in the event that XXX does or does not help us achieve the goal here that maybe he could help out by utilizing his recources at EBC. Meaning that he could come up with something that could help fund the finished project right for Sam. He was all for it! So again, I am prepared to at least take on the feat of helping Sam get his plastics they way the belong. Not an easy task for me seeing that I am at work at my desk every morning by 5:30 AM, and home with the kids by 4:00 pm, but I can not and will not let him go this alone.
I will do whatever it takes...
You are my friend Sam

Brendan,
Very generous of you to offer your time and effort to help out - I am hoping that Sam and Jenny are able to work something out with XXX, but if it comes down to it, I am sure we can put together a paint kit to help out!

Phone tag is a part of small biz. They don't have the people to handle the phones as often as they like.
I have played tag for longer then I care to state. But in the end, he came through.

I've not received any phone calls or emails related to this matter today. Nicole phoned me an hour ago and said Sam left a message at the shop. She has the phone forwarded to her or has it and Kevin is at the new shop working on the build-out. He will phone Sam in the morning.

I thought my communication was clear on the fact that we'd like to discuss the problem and deal with this in a civil manner. A great deal of what I personally said was taken out of context. I suppose that can happen in heated situations.

If I've come off as arrogant, offensive or defamatory in any way to anyone associated or not with this matter, I apologize. I am passionate about my husband and will defend him because I know him best and asked him to take this project on. I certainly hope you can understand that. I am indeed his #1 fan followed closely by our children. He works hard just like all of you and I know he has extended and attempted to extend options to rectify this situation. We are not running from this matter. As with anything we will face it head on but with clear heads and clear judgment.

I didn't lie about BBB, we weren't aware of the complaint they've listed. I suppose that's why they didn't receive a response. Thank you for bringing it to my attention.

With no trepidation whatsoever, I can say I am/we are sorry for the experience Sam has had. He's a good guy from what we knew of him. Sam and I have had a few conversations about miscommunications and interpretations about the whole situation prior to any of this.

One email regarding this thread and Paypal's contacting us is how we found out about all of this. Then began communications from others ABOUT this situation. We've not had direct communication with Sam since the day the bike was delivered to Scott.

This is not a situation that anyone anticipated or planned. I can't explain what I see in these pictures as I have never seen anything like this with a bike we've chromed. Kevin is aware of some of the issues regarding running under the tail section but hasn't seen the pictures I have seen here. He'll have to make sense of it when he does.

Kevin looks forward to discussing the matter with Sam directly and again will phone him at the number provided tomorrow. He's simply wants to fully understand what is going on at this point and how it can be rectified.

Thank you all at the very least for your passion about the whole issue. Good night.

I know my opinions here are meaningless, but as a small business owner myself, My reputation is all I've got. Without that reputation I'm back working for the man instead of being the man.

In my business I've made mistakes and missed deadlines, but in the end have always tried to deliver the very best product I was able to deliver and have always did my best to stand behind that product at all cost to save my reputation.

Sam and Jenny, I know under the immediate set of circumstance you feel very used and abused. But being on the flip side of the coin I'd appreciate my customer giving me every chance to resurrect the problem and save face.
Of course that correction should come at no further cost and inconvienence to you and should be corrected in a very quick and timely manner.

In the grand scheme of things, since delivery, only a very short time has passed. I see conflicting schedules, missed calls, incorrect #'s and a .Org memebership who is only faning the flames. In the end there's only 3 entities here that can work this out XXX, EBC, and Sam.......... If given the opportunity I cannot see how this can fail to be resolved..........and if it does, You can count me in for help on whatever means are concluded necessary to get your ride PIMPED again.
