Does this look normal to you?

You do realize that those voids are in the hub and not the sprocket right?

Even with a new sprocket you are going to have those cracks...

On another note, you'll love the busa with a 43t rear sprocket. I had that gearing on Train and it friggin' ROCKED! I hope you love power wheelies.

Think I'm gonna start with a 42t rear. Acceleration is fine almost as it is....if it gets better with a 42, then great. Like I've said just want 6th to rev a bit higher and be more responsive at 80 and going up 2 teeth shoud be enough. Can alwasy go to 43 if needed. I'm thinking cruising at 95 with 43 could be a bit high revving.

A 43 tooth is fine for the rear, don't let BT scare ya there. It's a perfect choice. And the casting looks like that on every Busa I've ever seen so if FL Knifemakers doesn't look like that, I'd be more concerned about his.

I don't wanna do power wheelies just want 6th gear to be more responsive at 85mph.
Here's a cheaper option I often use to make the engine more responsive.

1. Close the throttle
2. Pull in the lever on the left hand bar
3. With your left foot, push down once on the lever
4. Let out lever you pulled in on step 2
5. Open throttle

Never failed to work, and the best thing is it's free :-)

Now if that's not enough response, at step 3, push down 4 times.  Still free, but be prepared to hang on.

I've heard of this!  Sounds very interesting....

I've actually been doing a lot of that but since it comes with a 6th, it would be cool to be able to use it more.  My Blackbird's gears are super close ratio.  6th is much shorter and has lots of tug at 75+.
Want the Busa to be the same.

If you don't mind me asking, is there an advantage with the Marvic hub over stock other than looks or was it for the Marvic wheels?  I've been eyeing to get rid of the stock sprocket with something nicer and that hub with the sprocket seems to clean it up pretty nice.

The Gilles are bada$$

They are Marvic wheels. I dont think you can just change the hub. The advantage is lighter wheels.

would be to smooth some of the casting marks with a dremel and get the hub powder coated.
 
I replaced mine recently. I removed it and inspected closely and found that the casting imperfections were just that, imperfections and not cracks. Then I saw the real cracks. They'll appear at the sprocket bolt hole locations. I hear it happens alot with higher horsepower applications and/or bikes with a history of hard throttle cracking. There's a guy up here with a 380 hp busa that literally exloded his hub when he was trying out his new 10 inch slick.
 
I have 'em too and I don't think they have that "clean" look. I plan on replacing them anyways but with just the same gearing.

I replaced mine with a 42 tooth sprocket and the OEM had the same imperfections. I thought it was the paint at first .
