Does anyone know if GPS navigation work in vertical position

Does anyone know if 5.5”, 7” or 9” GPS navigations work in vertical position? I want to place this in my 6” wide tank bag window in vertical position. I’m not talking about the expensive Garmin or Tom Tom, I’m looking to buy a cheaper version.

Second question, I know these use a 12 volt cigarette lighter plug or USB plug but is the GPS true battery voltage around 5 volts because I want to run this off my battery bank.

Update, I found a Garmin drive 52 at a fair price, anyone using that one?

Update, I ordered a Garmin Drivesmart 55, should receive it tomorrow. Hope to try it out this weekend.
