Doc First "Real" Try

Well, I ran my '01 last night at Las Vegas Motor Speedway for bike night. It was FUN!!! I had run there once before on my Turbo busa, but got only 4 passes before it died.

Last night with the non-turbo I made 13 passes. Would have been 15 if I had not run out of gas. I ran a best time of 11.06 at 129 MPH. My 60' times blew, at 2.0 or higher. I just couldn't keep the front end down! My only performance mods are a Muzzy full system, PCII, Ram seals, small airbox mod, and BMC racing filter. I weigh 260 in leather. We were running into a 30 mph headwind at 80 degrees at 2400 feet above sea level.

Anyway, my mechanic was watching and said I needed to strap the front down. He was saying with my weight, it loaded the rear suspension and sent the front into the air. Even in second gear I was getting "lift off" at about 8k RPMs, NOT FUN!

My first pass was embarrassing with a near 12 o'clock wheelie then stalled it, that track REALLY grips! I ran my stock Bridgestone with 30 psi and it seemed to hook up fine.

So, how do I get faster??? Hopefully the next time I run it will be on the turbo that has the MTC multistage lock-up. My mechanic also said the stock Busa clutch stinks for drag racing...

What's next? Cache... teach me the ways o'Jedi master... and keep in mind, I will NEVER be your size, so other than cutting off a leg and arm, what do you suggest?

Thanks

Stretch it out with bolt on extentions. Put that mcr2 shootout tire on it and fill to 15 pounds. That will get you there. Strap the front if you still feel wrong.

Doc you and I are close in weight...Strapping the front will make a hell of a difference...Is it lowered in the rear???That also helps...Ease up on the rpm's at launch and your 60's will go down...Don't expect #'s like the feather weights though...

:) Right on Doc...cool that you are trying at least...practice practice..have not been to a strip yet..eventually though..PaceM

By the way Doc...Found a dirt equal to the Busa...1995 Husaberg 501..pure animal..hates to go slow..won't idle..just plain rips..owned it one week today..put a new head gasket in it...got 550.00 bucks in it..guy said 500.00 just wanna fuggin get rid of it...my gain WooHoo....

Watch the lights and ease it out.  With a stock wheel base you can not get a good launch with out reading the lights.

I have to do that with the turbo and then hit it hard.  It still comes up a bit in 2,3,4, gears.  It is either that or lock up clutch and extend the length (which i will not do, because of street riding).  Not bad times though.

Brotha Pace, you r da man! You no I got that LC4! Oscar, a buddy from college, and I are heading to Mehico over Xmas. The more I think about it, the more I plan to ride the LC4. You should bring the Husa. I looked at those too, NICE DEAL amigo... So, why don't ya slip down to Vegas in late Dec. and join us in Mexico for riding, drinking, and other sinful activities... you'd dig it da most!

I hear ya Stunnah! No, not lowered at all. I had the turbo lowered for a while, but I hated the way it felt. I think I am going with the strap-on for now. Dragin' is great fun and Las Vegas motorspeedway is a sweet 1/4. Thanks bud!

Rabtech, thanks for the tires! Will the slick work on a stock Busa wheel?:super:??
