Do you use WD-40 to Clean Chain?? Need Chain Info???

I use chain lube sparingly as most of it seems to fling off, not on the rear tire, but where the chain is subject to the greatest centrifugal force, around the countershaft sprocket.

some peeps been using paint thinner, wd-40 and diesel, which are just as good cleaning chains and makin them shine again, but are you guys sure they are o-ring safe? I dunno, I prefer sticking with the manual instructions on this one...
