The test here cost about $49.
And you can't get road tax or insurance if you don't have it.

And road tax cost $128.

In 16 years I have never had to have one inspected.

This can be a good and bad thing. I have seen some cars and trucks so bad things would be falling off of them going down the road. It should be some kind of a law that the vehicle has to be in some kind of shape. At least all the lights, wipers, tires, breaks and exhaust should work. JMO
