Democracy died tonight!!!!

Great post, Russell!

Also: LOL, Liberals! Eat crap, unionised government drones.

Make one thing known. Just because I have a career in the public sector. Do not mistake me as a liberal or wellfare recipiant. I pisses me off as much as you. If you want to see some shidt slinging, come stand shoulder to shoulder with me on the job.

Not sure where your getting that from. But that is 100% false in our contract. Yes, that would be wrong as hell. I could not be collecting overtime if I am the one "causing" the overtime. I think this is the kind of missinformation that I'm talking about. I'm not saying it hasnt happened somewhere, I dont know. But it does not happen at my job.

It was proven here. This was months ago, I'd really have to dig. However I did do a thread about it way back in the day, if you are bored, you could search for it. I think it was called what's wrong with Wisconsin or something like that.
Although I'll warn ya, it turned into a Union vs non-union bash..

I get man, I really do. Like I said, there are bad parts of a union. But think about it, as criminal as that is, somebody on both side negotiated that. Yes is wrong. Its just like crazy bills passed through the house or senate, there stuffed with so much BS, both sides mangage to get stuff thats almost criminal past the other. I hope they fixed that BS.

After all the union bashing, here is something good union workers did. This is just seconds after this oxygen thief was cuffed up after his 3 day run.

Who wants to call BS on this one?

Recall Election Fraud in Wisconsin? You Betcha! | Addicting Info

The early exit polls predicted the race between Walker and Barrett to be a virtual tie. A second round of exit polling data gave Walker a small lead over Barrett but was still “too close to call.” MSNBC and Fox called the election for Walker an hour after the polls closed with no more than 21% of the 100% of unverified computer results in, and people in three counties still voting. Let’s see, within one hour the election went from too close to call, to Walker winning by 7%, with only 21% of the votes counted and three counties still voting. In other words that 21% was the equivalent of 57% of the total vote. This is mathematically impossible; clearly the unadjusted exit polls in Wisconsin do not match the reported results, the adjusted results, of the popular vote.

Moloko, from what I understand, the percentages they were talking about were reporting agencies reporting. Not actual percentages of votes. So if Milwaukee county was included and say some up north county with 1/10 of the amount of voters wasn't reporting yet, it would still be the same percentages even though they have less voters.

Make sense?

So, now the "someone cheated" whining arguement begins again. The change in the vote count is most likely because that voters who ACTUALLY work for a living went to the polls after work...can we find some hanging chads?

GSX: Thank you for the job you do. A difficult and unappreciated one at best (but I'd like to seen some tazer barbs in that guy you caught :) - So I 'm gonna ask you a few questions and offer a few potential solutions that might make the union look more reasonable?

1. Pension: I would have never agreed to any deal that the state promised that they could take back. I also would never let any union head be the manager of it. How about a 401K plan like the rest of us? The union pension plan (IF the state keeps their word) is a much higher benefit than non-union plans.

2. Work rules: How about the union stop protecting those "5% of idiots" and self-police better? The perception is that it's very difficult to get rid of a bad apple who happens to be protected by his union contract.

Sounds to me like you'd like your union to clean up it's act on a few things also. WI is taking an entirely different route than IL; we'll see which one is better. You mention that Chicago is ruining the state - well, the head Chicagoan (Obama) us ruining the country the same way. So I'll hope you vote against your union and vote your conscience and vote AGAINST Obama this time.

I take it you didn't read the article? Even I have a better understanding than this of it, and supposedly I'm the stupid one around here.

Edit: or maybe I don't. I'll admit to not having an entirely clear view on how the whole process works vs supposed to work after the button is pressed and the 'counting' begins. It seems like there is a huge margin of error, and lots of room to create discrepencey.

Your all gay and I fear you.

Ill try to awswer as best as I can. Just with my thoughts and no spin on things.

1. The state is not supposed to be able to mess with our pensions. It is protected by our state constitution. They are trying to change things in the middle of the game and it will be fought in court. When I went to work for the Dept of Corrections I was driving trucks over the road after I got out of the Army. I was 25 and not even thinking about retirement or the political goings on in the state. I dont think anyone working in a prison raised there hand at 4th grade career day and said they want to be a prison guard. I just wanted to be home for once. There was no other retirement option. The pension system was created many years ago when it was the norm to work 30 years and collect a pension. I'm no expert by any means here, but my thoughts are if they tried to switch current employees to a 401 type retirement, soon there would be nobody contributing to the system at all for the guys already and soon retireing. True the pension has the potential to be more valuable than a 401, but that was part of the deal of working in deplorable conditions with tue/wed off on 2nd shift for years. I have 16 years in and am currently have thur/fri off. If my day off doesnt fall on the holiday, I work the holiday. If I was in the same type of position in the private sector, I would most likely make quite a bit more money than I do now. Thats the trade off for the pension in my opinion.

2. Its very true that its hard to get rid of a bad apple.....quickly. From what I have seen, the slugs will eventually run out of chances and be gone. Yes it could be better but I'm sure there is some suck ass or some executives son/reletive in your company that gets away with murder also.

My political views are nothing short of middle of the road. I respect most peoples rights to equality. I dont care if gays marry gays. The wellfare system pisses me off to no end. Man talk about abuse! I love my guns but live in the worst possible state for gun owners. I work around the scum of the earth and get threatened daily yet I cant carry a weapon off duty to protect myself. That is Chicago's fault. As for Obama, I have found fault and good with just about every president. He shocked me when he sent they guys in to take out Osama. Hell the way he has handled the wars is definately not the "democratic" way. I dont think "W" would have had the balls to make that call. Obama care is a joke and yes he is an Illinois grad so I suspect anything that comes out of his mouth. BUT, I for one belive the president if just a figure head that signs crap. The Reps in the house and senate run the country, the president really doesnt have much to do with anything. Just my opinion. Should I vote for Romney? I dont know, how can he relate to me? He's never had to work for anything in his life. Ill make that decision when it gets closer to November.

Hope this clears some stuff up for ya. Ask away if you have more.

Hey GSXTacy. Good posts man. :).

Thanks. I just get sick of reading BS from both sides. I thought some of you may respect or be interested in the opinion of someone living in the middle of the mess. Someone who's life is actually being effected by all these false numbers and statistics.

I tried to stay out of this thread.....but I guess I failed! lol

I think unions can be a good thing, but not for public jobs. Public workers unions help their members, but hurt the non-member taxpayers. I don't understand how most people don't understand this. To be a public employee, you should expect to make a much lower wage than your private sector counterparts. Every penny that goes to paying public sector jobs comes from the taxes of private sector, jobs unless it gets "borrowed" from the federal government who just creates it out of thin air. Unions claim to only want to give their members a fair wage? More like they want to have their wages compete or better private sector wages. THIS CANNOT WORK FOR LONG! As far as I'm concerned if you have enough money to pay for a roof over your head, feed your family and have a couple toys, that makes you rich. Life might not be perfect or ideal, but look at countries with people who live day by day struggling to survive, while our biggest problem is trying to acquire more wealth or more power to increase our status.

Why souldnt a public job be protected by a union? Why should I make less than the private sector? You pay taxes for services. Police, prisons, fire depts. Of course its going to cost money.
