Dashboard lockup!

G'day Guys,

I am having a dillema with my dashboard. It is intermittantly locking up. It just locks up when it feels like it, none of the guages function, they just stay where it locks up.
The only was to reset it is to disconnect the battery, or unplug/replug the dashboard cables.

I'd hate to be pulled over when the dial is stuck to 300!

If i dont reset it , and leave the bike overnight, it flattens the battery!


Any ideas???????
