Custom PC maps?

Just a quick question about tuning your bike with a PCII-III etc.

I see many of you swear by maps purchased from other .org members such as Johnnycheese and Quasar.

My question is, and I mean no disrespect, why would you have someone in a remote location write you a map instead of having it done on a dyno? Now the answer may be as simple as you don't have a dyno close to you, and that would explain it.

The reason I am asking is because I am looking to get a PCIII soon and I do have access to a local tuning/dyno shop that will program it for me. But I read so many great things about Johnnycheese and Quasar maps, I am wondering if I should even bother.

What do you all think?

Thanks!

Also, we can purchase PCs through JC right? Good prices?

You will not beat JC's prices!!! I gave Quasar a try because there are no tuners here! Best $ 25 I've spent on the bike, Dude know's his sheat! NJ.

Word on the street is......JC is the shizzle dizzle. Thats just what I hear. His product, service and price are untouchable!!! Give him a call.

many dyno tuners do all kinds of bikes, and don't know alot about the hayabusas.

JC knows these things. That is his specialty.
Take your Porsche to a Porsche specialist, right?

I understand and appreciate that. But I always thought the tuning was best done 'on-site'. I don't doubt he can make an awesome map, but I think it'd be a little general. When you get one done locally, they do all kinds of stuff based on temp, humidity, elev, etc.

The shop I would be using when it's time is known in the area for tuning sportbikes a lot of which were 'busas. What I'll probably do is get a JC map to start with, then have it tuned for my exact bike's characteristsics on a dyno. The only thing I don't know if the dyno tuner here would've accounted for was the ram air effect. That was a great call.

It could be a little difficult to get to the Porsche specialist when he's 2000 miles away! I guess I'd try the import sportbike specialist who is 10 miles away.

Thanks for your input!

a good tuner will make you a good on a good load control dyno. as always I recoomend to find a good tuner and have them make you one.I do send a decent map in every PC3n I sell but still recommend to find a tuner. you are in Ohio go see Motorhead.
