Clutch not engaging

Just replaced my clutch about 1000 miles ago and found myself pushing and coasting in first gear just to make it home tonight. I can release and change from first to sixth without pulling the lever. I already ordered a new clutch kit just in case, what else could be causing my bike to fail?First clutch gave up the ghost at 3000.

There are several things that can fail. Master cylinder, slave , push rod, driver error. To be honest I would be as concerned with why the clutch only lasts 3000 miles. Unless it is a track bike the clutch should last longer than a set of tires.

That was my same train of thought. I was thinking maybe it was the stop and go of NYC, I may have been a bit clutch happy in traffic. I'm just trying to avoid more issues.
