Got a set of Gilles Vario bars
the bars are too short to mount
my M/Cs & my electric switches

does anyone know of a longer bar
that can be used??
Gilles doesn't have them

for reference I have Pingel switches

I like the setup I have
so I don't want to change anything
just hoping someone make a longer bar that will fit??
BTW Pingel switches on both sides
it would work on OEM clip ons

this kinda of screws up a custom job
til I sort it out
so any help is very much appreciated!!

How about Jinster? He machines I believe.

So, what you are wanting to do is extend the end of the Vario bars? Need to make them longer? Is this correct?

If you went with shorter grips would this allow you the room needed? If so contact GPW. He installed some Rizoma grips which I believe are shorter than stock.

Throw a couple of pictures up here with the controls and such.

WE THINK ALIKE
I got those as well in black w/ the barends too

it's actually the M/Cs they take up even more room than the oem's

But yes all I need is a longer bar to mount the switches

I can stop by & snap a few pics, won't be until Wed night tho

I do have risers coming, but thats only gonna move em up & out. As the M/Cs were first hitting the cable(throttle, starter). Then it was the fairing only on the right side tho.

Wait I've got pics of the switches. I picked them up Fri.
Be back in 5

tick..tick..tick..

What did you buy..50mm?

They list a 53.5mm also.

someone can figure out a solution

So what you are saying is the "stock" housings are to big so all of the parts won't fit on the bars?

Is this correct?

well sort of

if I had stayed with oem clip-ons & triples: there barely would have been enough room for everything

but w/ the aftermarket triple & clip-ons: there isn't enough room

not with (going right to left-throttle side)barends, grips, oem switch housings(lights, horn, etc.), M/Cs, Pingel switches.

oh...I'm not replacing the stock switch housings with the Pingel switches. never thought of doing that. But even if I did, I couldn't start the bike w/ the Pingels or some of other switches either.

The Pingels are for some aftermarket lighting(Gator Customs). The ones in that email.

I'll have to install everything on the bars

How many switches do you need for the after market lighting? Looks like you are going to have two.

I could splice it into only 2
there are 4 lights: 1 on each fairing, seat cowl, windscreen

I could put the fairings on 1
And the screen & cowl on another
only having to use 1 unit

there is actually 2 units
1 for each side
I set it up for 1 switch per panel

but even if I use only 1 unit
left or right side there isn't enough room

I'll double check to see if it could fit on the left side
I believe both M/C are the same size tho
don't think the clutch is smaller
I'll call tomorrow

I only checked the throttle side though
I've actually seen clip on bars at different lengths
not saying it would work w/ my clip ons
but you never know

Now..could you insert the bar weight in the end of the bar and smooth the bar weight so as to be one piece.

This would extend the bar itself. If the same diameter you could then slide the grips on to the bars leaving what ever room you needed to mount everything else.

that could work on the clutch side
I have Rizoma barends
and also Gilles

the Gilles would work
they're hideous to look at
but they're the same size as the bars
perfectly

I'll have to try it & see
right now, I'm just going off whats in my mind
if I was there at the shop, I'd know for sure

that's definitely an option
Thanks hogger

I'll keep lookin for longer bars
just in case

damn I hope something works tho

What I think you are trying to do is make the handlebar it's self longer so as to get all the switches and levers mounted on it.

Is this correct?

If so mount the bar ends to the handle bars then smooth flush. I'm thinking everything would then mount doing the grips last.
