CAR KEYS fob - Got this via email today and decded to pass it along for those that dont have a smith & wesson safety device ... This makes sense to me

Great Idea...don't know why I never thought of this!...;-)
Most modern cars have a factory safety device / alarm so here's an idea.
Put your car keys beside your bed at night. If you hear a
noise outside your home
or someone trying to get in your
house, just press the panic button for your car. The alarm
will be set off, and the horn will continue to sound until
either you turn it off or the car battery dies.
This tip came from a neighbourhood watch coordinator. Next
time you come home for the night and you start to put your
keys away, think of this: It's a security alarm system that
you probably already have and requires
no installation. Test it.
It will go off from most everywhere inside your house and
will keep honking until your battery runs down or
until you
reset it with the button on the key fob chain. It works if
you park in your driveway or garage. If your car alarm goes
off when someone is trying to break in your house, odds
are the burglar or rapist won't stick around...after a few
seconds all the neighbours will be looking out their windows
to see who is out there and sure enough the criminal won't
want that. And remember to carry your keys while walking to
your car in a parking lot. The alarm can work the same way
there.....This is something that should really be shared
with everyone. Maybe it could save a life or a sexual abuse
crime.

Would also be useful for any emergency, such
as a heart
attack, where you can't reach a phone.

man i remember that after spending 4 months away from home I decided to travel early and surprise my wife with flowers and she had change the alarm to silent mode and to only a 15 seconds delay.... well i did surprised her and teh cops surprised me...guns and all

great suggestion - thanks for posting that.

personally, I think a would-be burgler would be more afraid of me or my wife with a gun in hand than a car alarm, but if you shoot a guy, theres so much PAPERWORK.....

i wouldn't hesitate a second before shooting someone breaking into my home but i would much rather they go away on their own because of an alarm going off than actually put the lives and wellfare of a family member in danger...just makes sense to me

I'd love to know where you live that Police actually show up in time to do more than tag toes, scratch, and write a report.

I've never seen it.

GM has had this for some time, our 2000 Bonneville has this feature and it works pretty well from inside the house. *(when the car is not in the garage)

Great idea on paper. How many people actually look outside when the person down the street sets of their alarm "again".
My bike sets of car alarms all the time.
