Well, it's time for a new chain and sprocket for the 99.....

Any consensus on what most people are riding?

What's the hype about going up to a 43 tooth sprocket?

Is it standard to change out the front and rear sprocket at the same time?

Loking for brand/item and price recomendations here.....

Most people change the chain and both sprockets plus the cush rubbers at the same time. I went with an EKZZZ and JT sprockets from Charles at Street N Track. Quick delivery and exactly the right parts.

i went 16-42 but havent had a chance to ride it. if you just decide to go up in there rear its always a good idea to get a stock tooth aftermarket sprocket in the front

Thanks for the info guys.....as I understand it, stock is 40/17

What's the advantage/disadvantage of going to a 43?

Also I'm 225lbs and regularly hit 150-165mph on the commute....(not for long mind you...too many Moose way up here in the Great White North)

Does that have any impact on my chain/sprocket needs?

alot will say go up in the rear..easier on the chain.

Lower gears = little less gas mileage, quicker acceleration, spin tires easier,..etc.

I went 16t in front and like the way it pulls...just ordered a 42t for the rear I will put on prolly at mid or end of Summer with a new chain.

If you are cool with how it pulls now and have no need for a quicker acceleration..leave it stock 17/40. :beerchug:

16/42 is the way to go.....your mileage will go down alittle, but the fun factor will go off the scale
Its the single best mod you can do to your bike, and its also cheap and easy....thats a hard to beat combo :beerchug:
