Captain (with head hanging low in disbelief) Loaded words

I see the word "socialist" being thrown around, but I honestly don't see the connection here.. How does standardized testing language have anything to do with socialism? ???

Pathetic...eventually, we'll all just grunt to communicate, but then the cavemen would be offended

Like I've said before, America, home of the free, the brave and the utterly offended...

The same thing is happening here on the East Coast of Canada.... Kids barely fail a grade anymore and are pushed forward whether they can hack it or not. I know a 19 year old who can barely read and write... That is absolutely unacceptable to me in this day and age. Both of my parents worked and they were still very involved in what I did in class and elsewhere. I had rules, curfews and all the other stuff a growing boy hates LOL But it made me a better person and I have my mom to thank a lot for who I am today. I am seriously worried for future generations... I think the pic below sums it up:

its in the schools already, if you go sit and listen for a awhile to what they are teaching and listen to your kids,
youll get a sense of what is going on. The PC has really gotten outta hand if you ask me just way to much focus
on this type of thing and not enough on the true value of teaching.

I too have heard of kids in my tiny town that are seniors in high school, and they can't read :banghead: Sad, sad state of affairs when we push everyone through so you don't make 'em feel bad. I tell my sons routinely that if they don't do their homework, ask questions if the need help, keep up in school, they'll be repeating a grade, but I guess the sad fact is that likely doesn't happen much anymore :banghead:

I'm speechless. What is going on with our education system? I hope these people realize these are the people that will be taking care of them/us when we are older and right not it's not looking to good.:banghead:

Read this to your kids: "I was watching a television show about two divorced dinosaurs whose birthdays are on Halloween and Christmas. They were discussing hurrcicanes, wildfires and religion while eating weeds." How many kids don't care, and how many did I just offend?

Halloween may suggest paganism; divorce may conjure up uneasy feelings for children in the midst of a divorce within their family. One phrase that may surprise many, the term "Rock 'n' Roll" was on the "avoid" list.

<voice=Cartman>"That just pisses me off!"</voice>

How true! I'm only 35, but when I was a kid, parents MADE their kids repeat grade(s) so they would get a quality education...

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA I just snorted after I finished laughing at that one...

oh this is but the tip of what they are doing in NY and on Long Island. There's this kinda socialist crap but then again there's now some schools where kids cannot fail...seriously, there's no pass/fail, there's no D or F grades and everyone in the class learns at the slowest student's pace...oh yeah no "special ed" everyone is equal. What's worse, the teachers are lazy, at least up here where they are unioned and must only teach what is required by school testing & published syllabus :banghead: My 8yr old actually ran into this in kindergarten when the teacher finished what she was required to teach 3wks early and started sending notes home about how disruptive my daughter was being in class. My response "well then why don't you teach them something, I honestly don't care if she's leading Barnum and Bailey through here if your plans are to give them meaningless busy work and expect them not to talk, play and act like kids. After all you aren't really teaching are you?" That one got me a special invite to the principal and superintendent's office  I was less nice in my choice of words to them  We wound up keeping her home for the last 2wks of school and switched school districts in 1st grade.
Well, Bots in proof we need special Ed classes

And good work Brian, if they wanna be dumb, call em.on it and move your daughter esle where.
