Can a Gen 1 keep up with newer bikes?

So I bought a 2002 Hayabusa the other day. It was super cheap and I have tons of parts for one. I have always wanted to go 8s on a stock motor and I gave up years ago and bought a bigger motor. After the years of knowledge I have gathered I want to take a crack at it. I also wanted to see can a gen 1 keep up with the newer bikes. I will post videos and all the stuff that it takes to hopefully keep up with newer bikes and to hopefully run 8s.

I dont drag race only street ride but i can say my 40K mile 2004 hayabusa i just purchased feels stouter then my H2sx in the lower/mid range revs, im sure the SX would pull it on absolute overall HP but even a 99 tech bike can still hold its own.

I will try and get video edited tonight. Got somethings I need to improve on but the old girl did good first time out.
2012 zx10r

2002 hayabusa

Yoshimura full exhaust
Bmc air filter
Small air box mod
Flashed ecu from schnitz

going to buy a new clutch, install stiffer clutch springs, slave cylinder support, do big air box mod, street tune it and maybe go up one in the front if it’s not stock already. clutch was starting to slip after a couple of runs. The zx10r has 3 tunes on it. 172 whp standard flash, 182whp custom tune and 190 whp mr12 custom tune. All numbers are from same dyno same day

Of all that you mentioned, the gen 2 clutch will drop your et's better than anything. You can 1.3 that thing all day. Worry about the spray when you get the front half down. Gen 2 busas with gen 2 clutches, arm, bolt ons etc. run 8.88 stock motor

This is a budget build. How fast can you go with the less amount of money for the average joe. Yes a slider clutch will help a lot at the track. But your talking almost 3k for a clutch set up. I have been 9.2x on a stock motor gen 1 na.

A guy with a 75" stock motor gen 1 (no nitrous) was having a hard time on PB about spin. When asked why it was so long he said he just wanted to throw the lever away. A "budget build". course he didn't get a shock to help the suspension and after i heard that, i just kinda thought hes been watchin KOG vids on youtube or something.
