Cali Emissions

When I got my bike from my uncle, he told me it has Cali emissions. It pops and backfires under hard decel after just ripping through the gears at high rpm.

He also gave me a kit from brocks performance. A pair valve removal kit that he said will fix this.

Anybody have any experience with this?

I have a 99 busa...

That will help, but you will need to also do the marble mod I believe. Just block the vent hose to the air box. Do a search for marble mod and you will get all kinds of good information to read through. I cant find the specific thread for it.

Yes remove the Pair Valve, and install block off plates.
Also remove the crankcase breather assembly that is mount above the sprocket cover, and just vent the crankcase into the middle nipple in the airbox!

It is my understanding that the CA bikes run lean to meet the state's crazy emissions requirements - I would suggest you look into a PCV / X-TRE (or similar) to allow setting the mixture and timing more appropriately - as you know backfiring/popping are not good for longevity of the engine - good luck with you new ride - you will love it -
