Hayabusa Copper 1999
About 46,000KM on it
Motor redone at about 16K because of chain tensioner break... Changed complete head with valve...

I have a Yosh full RS3 Race and a K&N air Filter..
PAIR system completely removed.

Ok now Ive been running "somekind of hard" from the begining. I have changed oil every 5K with motul 10-40 or 15-50 depending of the seasons.

Since a couple of week I run the bike even harder that it ever was run before.. (Before I would see red line a couple of time each run) now its more like I never get under 8K...

Before I always had some backfire when in compression at about 4K. (Never had very much of an issue)

NOW last run:
Start the bike.. Idle is good, let it warm a few minutes
Then couple of throttle blimp, (see black smoke) within a few minutes black smoke is gone (maybe a little rich)
Then I go on for a ride it make backfire about 6 to 12 inch outside of the muffler (big blue flame) when I release throttle, it has a funny spot at around 7K were it run ugly but everything else seems to be "normal"

Not that I dont like a few backfire here and there but now its becomming a little annoying, pplz can follow the blue flame!

I replace spark plug every year (10K) Do you think I should be adding a PCIII to lean out? Do you have any suggestion

Next Steps I will take in the next time:
This winter:
Replace the Oil Gear for the High Flow
TRE mod (Switchable done myself!

Check Valve clearance:

Next Winter:
PCIII
Replace Valve, Guide, Retainer, Spring, Cam (Web cam)

Next Next Winter:
Replace Piston (High Compression 13:1)
Replace Conn Rod (Carillo)

Any ideas!

Thanks..

Ohh and lastly...

I replace the chain and sprocket twice (20K on the original, and 25 K on the new one, Tsubaki Sigma 530)
:Wouldyou suggest EK530, or Tsubaki Alpha Gold, or Tsubaki Sigma again?

if you have a full exhaust, you should be running a pc anyway. your bike will run alot smoother with a pc. I think you are the first that I have heard of that has a full exhaust and does not have a pc. you dont need one for slip ons, but it is a must with full.

Also if you have K&N you should not be running rich, it seems you should be running lean if anything. you should be getting more air then fuel from the ecu not more fuel then air. The pc is normally added to add more fuel to match the new amount of air you are receiving. Your situation seems weird.

Actually I wanted to get a PCIII for a long time but for all kind of reasons I haven't done it.. Its in my plan to get one in the VERY near future, but I've never had these problems before... I wouldn't call them problems as they do not seems to have any effect on the power of the bike.. But just slighty annoying to be a Human bomb... I check sparkplug they have a nice chocolate color nothing wrong, check gap was fine as well.. We are about one week from storing for the winter,.. Bike always been stored in a warm garage.. So I dont think anything wrong there.. Im just curious as to what should I pay attention to... Maybe its getting due to have some part replaced.... So anyone has any direction to look in.. at 7K Rpm its like really odd its the only "bad spot" in power delivery, it take more time to get from 7K to 8K then from 8K to 11K.. or from 5-7K... just seems to need some tuning.... !

Thanks for any input!

You should be able to get your bike dynoed real cheap and that will clue you into your fuel to air ratio. I am not talking about mapping it, just a dyno run. My tuner does it for like 20-25 dollars. I would get the pcIII to smooth it out but, to make sure it is not another problem I would get it dynoed before I bought anything.

My guess (this is just a guess from reading other boards) would be either the map sensor is bad or the vacuum line has come loose or split going to it. Oh one last thing since you have a 99 busa you would need the PCII because the PCIII will not work on it.

Humm just to be sure I have here:
GSX 1300R Hayabusa 1999-2001 ---------------------- 1020-0066 (PCIII usb) ---------------------- $332.95

I don't think they did the "r" one but the PCIII Usb seems to be the good one right?

In any case yes I will do the Dyno run.. The only "bad" thing is that I dont have a "base line" to compare with I never Dynoed my bike before.. But you are right it will give me some idea of what is going on.. Btw after 45K do you have any idea were should be my compression in each cylinder.. This is one test I will be doing this winter... (I think nominal is 1600, if all are under 1200 replace if any is below 900 replace... ) Do any have done their pressure test lately?

Thanks! Will keep posted once the Dyno run is completed..!

okay now that you proved you have no clue quit posting B.S.a PC3 will work on a 99 because they do not make PC2 anymore. DOH!!!!!!

Oh well I didn't think the PCIII would work on pre-02's but I guess I'm wrong. If you know everything then tell him whats wrong with his bike or do you just like to post when people are wrong about something?
