Burocratic Overkill

How is it that here we are encouraged to ride bikes as they create a smaller environmental footprint. yet as a bike rider here we are penalised with higher rego costs. when a bike crashes as a result of a car/van/bus not looking , the rider is the one penalised . we are expected to do more to be seen , yet the vehicle user gets rewarded with rego cost cuts. our government , ACC and the police decide to pass the blame onto us. the term "easy target"is what I use as our government are too gutless to look at the re a cause

In the UK its the same ....

Bikes that do 2k miles a year pay more road tax than some cars that can do 100k a year, same with insurance.
Its also perfectly legal to filter (lane split) in the UK but they partition blame to the bike if you get knocked off. Its the same as being robbed and you getting part blamed for carrying money !

Here it's a grey area as a regards to lane splitting . as long as you stay on the right side of the cage Driver and indicate its ok. No more than 20kph faster than moving cage and if following another bike maintain a safe distance.
