Broken outlet Camshaft

Quart

Registered
Today the engine was mounted back, connected etc (removed the pair valve btw and sealed with ape etc).
Busa was started and after running idle some minutes (needed to let the oil level to adjust it), it popped off. Further investigations led to the output camshaft broken on the oil hole under the castle at the fourth cylinder.

No engine has to be unmounted anew, in order to exchange cams and to check if valves are bent (hopefully not considering was idling at 1250rpms at the moment that happened).

I'm speechless:

Cam shafts are brittle, some one dropped it, maybe while it was boxed, but it was dropped

Checked the camshaft, didn't look like hit in any place (at least the 3/4 that broke out the gear)

I suppose it is was fortunate that it failed when and where it did as opposed to letting go at full song out in the world. Hope the rest of the valvetrain is ok.

Yeah, it was the only one effectively working of the fourth, the other 7 just popped up with the spring since the camshaft failed

the things that happen in our quest for more HP... at least it didn't blow up everything under power........... so u have that on ure side.
