The above is not a misprint. 9.32@150.95 MPH. In the left lane was a brand new Busa with a 200+lb rider who purchased the same parts from me on Thursday night at the track after picking up his bike at a dealership earlier in the day.

Just in case you missed the details of what has been done to Chronic thus far:
1. Mirrors were removed
2. Ultra-Mod clutch kit was installed
3. Front end lowering kit was installed, and the front end was strapped
4. Rear lowering links were added (at the lowest position)
5. Alisyn <<0 fully synthetic motor oil was added
6. High Octane pump gas was put in the tank at Road America
AND NOTHING ELSE!
<div class="iF-Passage"><div class="QUOTEHEAD">Quote:
<div class="QUOTE clearfix"><span class="quoteBegin"> </span>
The 2008 Busa is strongest machine in stock trim we have ever tested-period.
Can't wait to see tickets when this thing is piped, mapped, sprayed, with a few motor tweaks... that goes to everybody who felt disappointed when the new specs came out, even before any real world numbers came in!

If that impressed you, check out my last two posts in this thread. These were from an email chain Brock sent out yesterday.

I remember reading on Raptors and Rockets that Suzuki didn't release the new Busa last year because it didn't beat the 14 as bad as they wanted it to in testing. The margin of victory was too small for them, so they went back to the lab to improve on it.

I think they achieved their goal!

Hey Kawi ... remember that crown Suzuki let you borrow? Well they're going to need it back!

This just in from Ricky Gadson

Today I got my hands on an 08 ZX14 and couldn't wait to see if Kawasaki really did step it up for 2008.
After riding the bike for a photo shoot in August, I made a phone call to california to see if I really felt what I thought I felt, which was more power everywhere.
Low mid and high seemed to be seat of the pants harder during the hit.
They confirmed that they have changed qutie a bit on the 08 in an effort to fight off the 2008 Busa.
With 7 miles and the gas that comes from the dealer, my good friend OLD SCHOOL call me and said come get it, and I couldn't get to Englishtown fast enough to pick it up last night.
I went to Atco raceway first thing this morning and Knocked on the gate to let me in.
On my first pass I went
9.76@144mph without alowing the bike time to warm up.

Remember the bike is just the way you buy it from the dealer.........absolutely no modifications.

Then I packed up after only 30 min at the race track to head to the shop to throw it on the dyno.

The best 06 I had on my dyno put out 169 with no miles and 173 with a bike that was broke in which belong to sonny.
But on the average they had about 166-168hp brand new with 104.4 ft-lbs of torque.

The 2008 with 11 miles made 174.5 hp and 108.9 ft-lbs of torque, with the air fuel dropping to 10.8af at 11000rpm, and where it made peak power which was 9750rpm, the air fuel was already 12.2 and falling.

So there you have it
174.5hp vs 169hp
108.9    vs 104.4 torque

9.65 vs 9.75 best 08 and 06
148mph vs 146

You decide!!!!!

Will do more testing as soon as my new 2008 gets here next week...........stay tuned.

So you can't have the crown ...

Richard went 9.76 @ 149 on a 08 stone stock Busa with 474 mile in the best air that anyone had ever seen at atco ..Ricky went 9.65 @ 148 on a stone stock 08 zx14 with a 11 miles on the bike ..

It is good to hear the numbers on the new 08 ZX14 - it is food for thought... though, 177.5 rwhp and 110 ft-lbs is still higher in my book than 174.5 and 108.9 - we need more comparisons to draw a definitive conclusion.

It is damn impressive that a bike in stock form jumps in the track and throws a 9.65 in the 1/4 mile... however, if the new Busa has more power and better aero's, there is no way this ZX14 1/4 mile time will remain for much longer being the best rime for a stock bike... somebody WILL have a stock Busa run faster, it is just a matter of it being at several riders hands... props to Ricky Gadson anyway!

Ringer bike.... Not factory OEM for the general public!
Can't wait as well to see the numbers with the General Population bikes.....

lol   Brocks bike came from  the dealer show and press intro .... Ricky bike came from the deal show also  ...So i guess they are BOTH ringers ...lol...
There have been a couple of Busa that have been bought out of dealer stock that posted almost identical numbers on the dyno that Brock had. Time will tell on the 14s.

i took my 08  to the strip  im 175 lbs  been riding for  a long time  but have not been to the strip in several years  4 passes  2 too get use to the bike and 2 i tried to drop the hammer the bike is straped and has a brocks clutch mod ,everything else is stock ,mirror not even folded back

best pass was

Ricky works for Kaw. If you worked for Coca Cola would you tell everybody Pepsi taste better.

My opinion is that Suzuki didn't jump it up enough . It should have benn a REAL 14 and had up to 210HP / 120torque . But as it is these bikes are so close that its diffenetly ALL RIDER when it comes to who is faster . Unless you look at LAND SPEED RECORDS !!!!
bowdown.gif

You know with all the chest pounding about stock vs stock quarter mile times and speeds I have to ask why all the hype? The Hayabusa ran 9.86 (In Cycle World and Motorcyclist tests) back in 1999-2000 and I am sure I read of a 9.73(or?) on bone stock Hayabusa test bikes back then. All without straps or clutch mods or Race gas, lowering links or 0 weight oil. And damn sure not with highly paid factory professional drag racers trying to get as much out of them as possible. Yes the MPH numbers are ever so slightly higher now but folks are forgetting that this really aint much of a progression in the grand scheme of things. So get over it and quit trolling.

It seems like both of these bikes are almost dead nuts comparable to one another.
I would call it a tie.
I'm not partial to either maker, but if you look at the design of the Busa it is far more polished and perfected by way of comparison to the Kawi which has hints of 1980's styling to it
thumb_down.gif

The Busa's body lines look like a 2007 Ferrari and the Kawi's design looks like Tom Selleck's Magnum PI Ferrari
