Bonneville

Hey Shane,
This is a shot from Speedweek '06 prior to my first run on the long course. Due to a contestant exiting the wrong side of the course (first time on long course) I sat at the front of staging for 20+ minutes. During that time I was able to sit and take in the experience.

Wes (the Starter) walked over to me, shook my hand and said "Welcome to the Long Course". It didn't sink in at the time, but when reminded about it later by my Teammate Brad who understood what Wes was saying, it was an emotional moment.

Some people never make it to the Long Course (175mph+ vehicles), this is where most of the Land Speed records have been set and broken. I have found the scene from Worlds Fastest Indian when Hopkins steps onto the salt for the first time to be the best way to illustrate the experience.

I cannot wait for treatment of my sodium sickness. Let the final count down begin....
