Bolt on extensions

I have a friend with a gen 1 and he is going to change his bolt ons out for a full swingarm. Will the gen 1 extensions work on a gen 2

I started this thread because we have some new-new members here and I wanted to bring to light the inherent dangers of these popular items.... what does everyone think? im against them.... its a safety thing.
