blown head gasket help

I just tried a speed run(made 190+)then blew the head gasket below spacer plate. There wasn't any oil/coolant mixing, just a little oil and compression lose.
It kept running without any noise or overheating so I assume I'll need just a gasket.
Is there anything specific to look out for while I'm in there?
Should anything be machined? (If so a good shop in Minnesota?)
Are there any "might as well" things that could be done while head is off?
I'd like to keep this project under $1,000.
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, John

Running 24 psi when set up for 8 is usually accompanied by replacing pistons and cyls, hope you just have a gasket gone but your not going to know for sure untill you pull it down

Scope the pistons and see what you have first. Very likely you have more damage. Let's hope not but now the time to look. Also check and change the valves and springs, polish and smooth the head. If you are going to do speed runs in the future set the bike yup for it. Those high speed runs will get you again otherwise.

If your only running 8psi..atleast stud the head while its off ( prob equates to pulling the motor )...dont think you can stud it other wise.

IF you running the 24psi??? You NEED more done!

Ok thats better than just turning it up, but your still going to tear it down to know what the damage is.
24 psi non intercooler ?? with a rajay is creating a lot of inlet temp

You didnt mention any internal mods,,if she is stock,,with that kind of boost,,you may want to consider valve springs/pistons to handle that load,,,I think greg from smithbusa sells what you need,,I thought i saw rods and pistons on his site,,pm him,,,If he doesnt,,I know ryan at schnitz raceing does,,,go with greg first,,he probully will suggest what you need to handle that type of boost,,beings you have to take the head off anyway,And he probually will give you a better deal ,And he is running turbo as well,,,I dont like rebuilding anything twice,,I ussually over build,,,,,,,,,I have Nos on mine,,I run under the recommended shot on a stock motor before mods are needed internal over a 50 shot,,[ Im shooting a 40] plus,,Im adding1% more fuel at WOT than needed to be sure,,,,,best wishes,,,keep us posted

If I'm going to valve the head I'd like to go to an E85 set up.
Is there any specialist out there on the E85 turbos.
