Best time to buy a car?

My Father is about to (possibly) buy a new (possibly used) car.

I have heard - but can't confirm because I never did it - that buying a car on Dec 30 or 31 was the best time to buy.
Reason given was that it was the last chance for the dealer to add a sale in the current year.

So has anyone bought a car at the end of the year and thought (or know) that they got a better deal then at any other time of the year?

Or is that just a rumor made up to try and get people to buy?

Thanks in advance for any advice you can give.

On Blanca busaless. He sells cars and would give you a straight answer. Haven't see him here recently though.

Generally end of the month/sales quarter is the best time to buy a car or bike. Especially @ the bigger dealerships. There's more wiggle room and they offer more on trades. I know nothing is absolute or guaranteed but It's worked 4 me every time.

The last day of the month/year, is the best time to buy because the sales team is trying to make their quotas and bonuses. If you are ready to buy, they are willing to deal. I would recommend researching what you want in advance, these last minute transactions tend to feel rushed.
