I am actually having thoughts of selling my busa since moving to LA. The streets here are very dangerous with many bumps... and some are very slick. And I'm unable to crack the throttle at all. It's just not very fun keeping the busa at such slow speeds all the time. And I'm probably going to get in some kind of accident because you absolutely have to lane share/split in this city on a bike. I can't afford to just let my bike sit in the parking garage and not ride it, though. I'm considering maybe getting a gixxer because it's more manueverable in this crazy LA traffic. I am not seriously considering getting rid of the busa, but I have been thinking about it a little. If I did sell it, I could afford payments on a better car than my cruddy Ford Escort, too...

I do enjoy riding, though... so I guess I'll have to think about what's best for me.

Put on a 20 tooth sprocket out back, that should bring ya down to speed.....

What were you thing it was going to be like there???

When I lived out here before I had a Katana, so I'm pretty experienced with splitting traffic... but traffic out here has definitely gotten worse. It's just that the busa was made to go fast, too... and I guess I'm getting a little bit upset that I can't open it up at all unless I went out of the city. A gixxer would be more manueverable in the traffic, here, too... and with the 100lb weight difference it would be better. I guess I'll keep riding the busa and see how it goes... but since I'm even thinking about ridding myself of it, that's not good.

What are you doing up soo early??
It's 3 am where you are!!! Tossing and turning all night Charlie??

do what you think is best for you, i would.
set your priority's, and follow threw . if you think its in your best intrest to get another car or to get a smaller bike, do it. dont keep the bike just becasue its a busa, get something you are comfortable on in your present surroundings.

Stick with the Busa Pan, you know you what too

dude, WOW. Well you have to do what's best for you no matter what we think. You'll figure it out.

Don't forget about weekends and Latigo Canyon, Kanan Dume, PCH (further north) etc. I miss the canyon roads a bunch, if you can't tell.

That's a fact of life in So. CA. You have to split and you have to ride 30-60 minutes out of town to get in a decent ride.

Keep the Busa. You'll glad you did soon enough!

--Wag--

Keep the BUSA, PAN,

just make plans to get out of town every chance you get.

Pan
Go on the Ride November 18th, I guarantee You will decide to Keep the Busa, Way to Many Canyons and Awesome Riding in SoCal within 20 minutes from downtown Hollywood, We ride Early!!! Once you get 20 min. out of the City, It's a Busa Playground!!!!!

just don't make a rash decision before you hook up with some of the locals and let them show you what is available...then make your decision based on all the facts and do what is right for you

p.s. glad you made it there safe and are back with us

dam, Charlie!!! who gave you the jug of Boo-hoo juice??

dude, chill for a bit before you make a rash (and VERY BAD) decision...

take your time gettin used to the LA traffic again-go back to driving your Ford for a few days, then jump on the Bus-then you'll remember why you need the bike!
n yeah a Gixxer will be smaller/more manueverable...but does that matter at 150 on the open interstate??? you know the answer as well as I do, Pan-HE11 NO!!!
talk to some folks who know where the good canyon runs are, and plan some time to get out there after work or something. Should give ya something to look forward to.

n think about this-here in WI, I have to go AT LEAST 3 weeks without riding, sometimes more than a month straight (Jan. to Feb. is rough) ... and when I do ride, its with a face mask, thermal long-sleeve shirt, and long underwear under full gear (necessary when cruising around in 40 deg. weather) dude-hit my myspace page (bigdiesel) n check out the wicked burnout I did in the snow during a blizzard...that was F-U-N!!!

take your time with yuor decision, bro-n good luck with livin in He11-Ay.

Take your time to adjust Pan. When I had my ole Busa, I was able to split lanes even through LA traffic like it was 2nd nature.

Yeah, it's gotten a lot worse in SoCal in general population wise. Even the areas that are supposed to be "desolate" and "unpopulated" actually have some sort of small traffic with LEO's patrolling some areas. These are the same areas where just 3 years ago, taking the Busa out WFO was common. LEO's are starting to crack down on street racing and speed exhibitionists with much stiffer fines and/or impoundment of vehicle.

But, there are still places like the canyons where you can still get plenty of thrills. Still gotta watch out for the occasional LEO though.

The Gixx is much easier to navigate through traffic but I feel I was able to do it with just as much ease on the Busa. Whatever you do, good luck and hopefully I'll see you on the 18th ride.

Re-gear that girl.

Then set -up your suspension for the road conditions. ( Bumpy! )

Try it out for a few days before you make any rash decisions.
