Back firing and marble mod question.

My busa backfires sometimes coming down from higher rpm's.

My question is , can backfiring hurt or can it do any damage to your bike?

My other question is , when doing the marble mod are there any other advantages or disadvantages besides of not having it backfire anymore?

One org member reported he kept haveing his valve cover gasket leaking. After numerous self gasket replacements he took it to a dealer and the dealer he took it to and finally stoped his leak,blamed the marble . As for the backfire.it can hurt the engine . If its an exhaust leak,it will harm the valves over a period of time. I also see alot of back fireing reports after header mods with too lean of a map. I also just installed a header and had some back fireing issues ;when letting off of it at a high RPm , when it got to or about 35-4500

In my case; after a customized map enrichment, problem solved. I first thought it may have been a manifold leak ; until It was ruled out.
