Girlfriend surprised me with tickets to fly around Orlando on a little 1979 pipe Cherokee aircraft. My bday was in December, but took a bit to coordinate with the pilot school. I used to make a living as an avionics technician, so it sure brought back memories seeing all the instruments I used to work on. It was a little windy, but turned out to be a beautiful ride over lake apopka and downtown Orlando. I’ll definitely be back for some more fun! Here are some pics.

Glad you had a good time. There is something so cool about being at the controls of a small plane. I spent a some time in a Cherokee 235 (Dakota) as a kid sitting in the copilot seat.

Glide ratio of a commercial airliner 1 to 1 (1 foot down for every foot forward) thats a 45 degree angle if you loose power. Glide ratio for a small private plane like the one pictured above is around 8-12 to 1 depending on the exact model. I'll take those odds any day.
