Before many of my Busa brethren take call to arms and suggest a tire befitting the underside of my mighty GSXR, let me start by saying I have logged many miles on Avon's. Like any tire, it is purpose built. It just so happens, it fits my purpose. Thanks for listening, and you're welcome to continue.
With that said, I went through two sets of Azaro's without much incident. The tires were consistent and I always knew what to expect. I ride a ton of commuting miles (1-1.5k/mo) always on the same roads and the Azaro's were always the same.
I guess you can see where I'm going with this?
Sometime back, I go to replace my tired skins and was informed the Azaro had been replaced by a better model; the Storm. I eagerly accept the new offering and away I go.
Now some 4k into the Storms, I realize my confidence in the tire has begun to fade. It wasn't an overnight thing, but has progressively built to the point I now have to judge the road surface more and more to determine lean or acceleration. Remember, I'm still riding the same roads, and if anything - I've slowed down a bit. I don't have any issue at high speeds. They feel the same as before. It's cornering and hard acceleration where there is an obvious difference in straight line traction and the ability to hold the road in moderately aggressive turns.
Now to my question: have any of the Avon riders here experienced any of what I'm talking about? Have you seen even subtle differences between the two models?
