what do you guy's use to keep all the "rub" mark's, or scratch's off the tank; (you know the spots I'm talking about)
where your legs hit on the side of the tank...and where you lean on on the tank at.

I don't really like the leather tank bras... so... what other types of protection is there?

I have a leather one that won't be going back on. It was a tight fit but it still made my paint look faded. I just need to wax it out I hope.

There is a plastic clear tank protector you can put on your tank but I can't remember where I saw it.I use a leather bra and just got a bagster fulltank bra.If it rains or is damp out you must remove the bra, you shouldn't store your bike with the bra on either. The paint has to breathe.

yea I used a clear pro-guard tank protector. Also I'm careful about moving my belt buckle to the side of my jeans when I ride. I never put my belt buckle under my belly button.

My tank after 3400 miles looks pretty nice so far

Mike

It is hard to fully protect the tank.. The best protector is the Bra, You just have to keep the dirt out from under it..

I'm looking for something that won't cover so much of the tank; like the leather bras do? I just don't like that look.

I use the setup from thetankslapper.com

It is a film applied to the tank where the belt buckle hits as well as where your legs hit the sides.  It is similar to the film that covers the displays on electronics during shipping.  it does not damage the paint, and sticks with static instead of adhesives, so it can be removed and reset easily.  it stays put too, at least up to 170mph (indicated).  The bonus is you can hardly even tell its there.  about $20 with shipping.

Check it out...

I don't like tank bras either. I use the clear tanki pad, but it only protects that part of the tank that you routinely lean against.

I will admitt that I thought about a bra when I saw that one with a paint scheme that matches the bike. I think it was a Bag Lux.

the tankslapper protects the rear and sides of your tank. I've got no complaints about it after a year and 1 1/2. I had one side peel off and the guy offered to replace it free. I'm sold...

And best of all it doesn't hide the world's fastest hayabusa's blue and silver paint scheme ...cheap shot lolol

Tank Slapper RULES! Looks great, works perfect, cheap... what more could you want???

I just ordered a protector from thetankslapper for my 2003 busa. Glad to hear that it works well and was only 20 bucks.

I used a clear tape that MX guys use on their number plates my dealer gave me a square foot of it free when I asked him about it.

GUYS! Please don't buy that stuff. 3M Rhinogaurd is less than $20 from a automotive paint supplier. It comes with 2 8"x11" sheets. It is clear and about 1mm thick. It is like rubber. It has a self adhesive. It is the same stuff they use on Porsche I was told. I use a half a sheet to cover the strip on my tank. It doesn't need to be any wider than 4". It will yellow after a while when you wax the bike, probably one season. You can remove it with a hair dryer. Just like a sticker. You can cut it into any shape you like. I have also used it on top of my tank for tank bag to protect the finish. This stuff is as tuff as nails and clear so you paint won't fade.

Thanks discreet for the info. if anybody is not opposed to leather bagster has a nice tank cover. I am not sure if the collors match the paint exactly. The website is located in England but eurobikes is a local vendor

I am still looking for a carbon stick on tank protector...
