are the valve seats on a GEN I head removeable??

I've got the original head off my 99 sitting around because a few valves broke at low rpms and damaged the valve seats. A shop tried to re-surface them, but took too much away. Ended up buying another head.

I was looking at it today and the seat looks like a different material (copper) than the rest of the head and was wondering if replacing the seats and then re-building the head would be possible...or is it just a cool lookind paperweight?
