APE introduces it's latest version of their "PRO SERIES" manual cam chain adjuster. This one is for the Suzuki Hayabusa gen 2 2008 and later.
Why the PRO SERIES, when there are thousands of the APE classic tensioners in use?
The APE classic tensioner has an o'ring behind the jam nut that prevents oil from leaking past the threads. This design has proven highly successful in most of the applications. However, on out and out race motors that are disassembled and assembled repeatedly, which requires readjusting the cam chain often, can result in this o'ring leaking. Due to the design, the o'ring can not be replaced.
The PRO SERIES tensioner is designed with an internal o'ring. This allows the tensioner to be repeatedly adjusted as on pro race motors.
The tensioner body is CNC billet aluminum .The adjustment is done with a 4mm allen wrench, and stainless steel lock nut.
Most of the hot rod street and race bikes using the classic tensioner will never have an issue. For the serious race motors, there is now the PRO SERIES.
All future new tensioners will be the PRO SERIES design.
