I could be seeing things but it looks like metal frags stuck to the magnets...
Some sort of stator?

That is the internal workings of my micro wind turbine... Those are ridiculously strong magnets in two different rows that spin surrounded by copper wiring.. I have to change the bearings every couple of years so I pull it apart and clean it all up.

It's odd,but believe it or not,the thought came to me yesterday. "I'll bet that has something to do with Doug's windfarm." Hmmmm...
