Anyone ever stripped wheels before?

I want to strip the clearcoat off the wheels on my suv to do some more polishing on them. They are chevy polished and clearcoated aluminum wheels and I want something that wont damage or discolor them. I know alot of people use aircraft stripper to remove the paint on the busa wheels and they turn out pretty good so I might try that i I dont get any other ideas. Any suggestions would be great.


Oh just in case you are wondering... The factory clearcoat on the wheels causes a haze on them so I am going to strip them, polish them, and reseal them with something like zoop seal.

aircraft remover is your best bet. Make sure and get the gel type. It works a lot better

You could also use oven cleaner.

just wear some thick gloves when you do it. that stuff likes to eat skin.

Thanks guys. I will probably use aircraft remover but just curious on how fast the oven cleaner works and what kind do you use?
