anybody know a free or cheap way to do a lien check on a bike?

In my state (not Canada) I just call the Department of Motor Vehicles and give them the VIN. They will quickly look up the title and tell me if the title has a lien holder.
 
Go to a bank with a VIN and tell them you're looking to get a loan :laugh: Our registration cards contain that data
