ANY HOME-MADE RADAR DETECTOR BRACKETS IN HERE?

Have any members made their own radar-detector bracket for their Gen II?
If so, would you share photo's of your creation with your fellow pilots? (fitting Beltronics STi or my old Beltronics RX55 which is still a great unit)
Thanks to shared helpful info in a previous thread, I have learned that splicing into the tail light, adding relay and fitting cigarettle lighter outlets to power the radar detector up with the ignition is the easiest way. :beerchug:

Buy a stem mount for your Busa then mount a thin aluminum pate to the top of it and mount your radar detector to that

I’ve got some pics of my radar detector mounted like that in 1 of my threads. Even though it sits behind my windscreen and fairing it still worked and alerted me

Just get a TPX unit, and a 6 dollar ebay mirror clamp for any brand control clamp.
2 dollar aluminum flat bar. View attachment 1586676

I traded a TPX unit with bracket for some airbrushing work. Sadly, the unit was faulty and I returned it along with the bracket.
Obviously an easy installation, and gave the unit good clear line-of-sight, but it did obscure the ignition, making it hard to fit the key and start the bike.

I still have my old Beltronics RX55 unit that I had on my previous bike (RF900RV) but the earphone jack needs looking at. That unit saved my arse dozens and dozens of times.
I made a crude metal platform to fit that to the RF. Not a good look for the Hayabusa though

I also have a Beltronics STi unit and a solid bracket for a Harley. But it is currently a loan to me with potential of buying it if I can find a resolve for a fault it is having (LASER WARNING sometimes comes on for no reason, and stays on for ages).

I've seen a couple of home-made perspex brackets on other bikes that look smart.

But I just had to ask on here, seeing as there are so many Hayabusa owners in one place. There will be a whole host of fitments I'm sure. Hopefully more members will share photo's

I have been wrestling with this for awhile. RDs are illegal in VA so I have to hide the unit even if I don't have it on. I have a Beltronics STI Magnum and it is an awesome unit but I have it in my tankbag. This limits laser performance, although I have gotten a laser hit with thew unit in the tankbag! Also, the Beltronics is not waterproof so you have to stop and secure it when riding in hard rain. I used to use the plastic bag thing until I realized the condensation in the bag is nearly as much moisture as out in the rain!

Been trying locations for years but never really found a good place for it.

Will throw my hat in the ring, only because I laughed when I saw that thread title. Have I got a homemade mount to show you. :D

Already had the phone mounted on an Adaptiv mount, and the Scotoiler display on the left side.

Here's the finished product:

Had some old scrap wood and some velcro laying around the Pashnit Garage.

So I cut a piece out after measuring out the proper angle, laid down some Velcro and got the black sharpie out, yes, Sharpie.

I have made at least 4 or 5 home brewed detector mounts in the past, including velcro! None of which were a 100% solution. The best of them was a home made stem stand, which even if it fit my current bar setup it still puts the detector way to low to be any value at all as far as a visual alert. I always ride with a tank bag, so I needed to be able to elevate the detector above it at minimum to see it. I also electrified my tank bag recently to power it as well.

Then I recently put together the RAM mount setup shown here. It currently has the shortest ram arm on it so I may buy a longer one (with the security knob kit) to get it up a little higher even. This has their ball mount to attach it to the handlebar clamp then I have their new magnetic plate mount (love it!) on top. This setup gives me lots of latitude in positioning the detector for maximum visibility and also gets it up and over the gauges for a clear shot down the road. The other issue I have is the new Escort detector shown has a little bit of a shroud over the display which further limits the visibility a little. It is not an issue with my antique (almost) Cobra (1st pic) radar detector, which ironically has a much brighter red led display that is easy to see even in the sun.

I drilled in my windshield and put the ram ball mount with magnetic pad which attached to back of detector. Easy to move from bike to bike, adjustable. I can see both gauges real good. Hidden from sight, out of the sun and out of the rain in case.
