I'm selling my busa and a potential buyer asked me the following question:

Hi,

Is the motorcycle certified for use in 49 states or all 50 states including California?[/QUOTE]

Never thought about it before. Is a TX busa the same as a Cali busa?

Chris

yes..there is a difference. More smog s#@# and extra weight. Sometimes manufactures make everything to Calimexico specs.

hogger...

I'm in the middle of this with DMV right now. The vehicle must have a 50 state USEPA verification sticker and/or CALEPA emissions sticker ON THE FRAME unless YOU are moving to the state with a registed vehicle.

Some extra emission gear for the Cali busa.
The 49 state busa has a 5.5 gal tank, the Cali busa has a 5gal tank.

Reference registration in Cali;
Cali busa, no problem.
49 state bike, it MUST have 7500 miles(defines it as used) to be registered in Cali. If it has less than 7500 miles it cannot be registered in Cali.

Some illegal options to get a 49 state bike with less than 7500miles registered in Cali;
Ride it until getting over 7500 miles and hope you never get pulled over.
Swap instrument clusters with another busa that has more than 7500 miles. Have the DMV inspect it, than swap the clusters back.
